laptop was left on for a while but there was something weird about the battery icon, it had a X over it but the power plug was attached, and then i just plugged in the cord again and it looked like there was no battery but said it was charging and i thought whatever. A little later i restarted the laptop cuz it had been a while. When i started it up it showed the light for the wireless internet and the light for the start up key but it remained a black screen and would not proceed. Best fix, in my opinion, throw it at the wall =P. But seriously this is very annoying and needs help

The laptop would need to be taken completely apart cause you have to get to the bottom of the motherboard. Once you can get there then you need a soldering iron to take the old one off and some solder and a soldering iron to put the new one on. Put the laptop back together and your laptop will be as good as new.
Hi, Turn the laptop upside down, the optical drive (CD rom) will now be on the left hand side, near the back of the laptop you will a release catch which is spring loaded, push that catch and slide the optical drive out of the laptop.

connect yr system to an external Monitor(CRT) if it comes up then yr problem might be from the inverter,backlight,screen etc.
but if it doesnt come up then yr VGA card may be damaged.
NB:u must be sure ur system is up n working by pressing the caps lock key to check if the caps lock led will light up. if it doesnt lite up then yr system isnt up n running . what yu do at this atage is to replace the ram n or processor then it should display normal.
