Ferrari 3400 cd-rom removal procedure - Acer Ferrari 3400 Notebook

Seems like you have a dead battery AND now a broken power cord.
Just in case, remove battery and power cord and hold the power button down for minute.

i have acer ferrari 200series i have a problem on usb internet key..i did not run automatically, on the device manager show a question mark on dvd/cd rom, but when i update the driver it keep say is up to date,,,

Please try this :
Open the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class

[to open the registry, vista or 7, navigate to start, then type in regedit, choose from list, right click and say open as administrator. On XP, navigate to start, choose run, type in regedit and hit enter]

Then find the DVD & CD ROM key under above value.
Under the DVD & CD ROM key, find the values UpperFilter & LowerFilter and delete both seperately. Reboot machine and recheck. See below for picture

Should of came with several cd's.Put the 1st cd in cd-rom and restart computer.It may say press any key to boot from cd,from there on follow directions.If it don't you may have to go in bios setting and change boot settings,let the cd-rom be the first boot-able device.Good Luck !!

The fasted and easiest way to eliminate Windows being the cause of a read problem is to remove the IDE cable from the drive and insert a CD into the drive once the system is powered on again. You should notice some change in the LED of the CD-ROM, at least it should blink for a few seconds. Usually if the LED goes out or turns red it would point towards a faulty drive - which you have already seem to establish.

One last shot to try before dumping the CD-ROM for good is to update the Firmware of the ROM drive - altough a long shot I have seen this work a number of times.

As Insomniac says CD-ROM's are very cheap to purchase these days

Insomniac I am remember when these ROM drives were very expensive - do you remember when the first Burners came out? As slow as a tractor and expensive as a Ferrari

may be a problem with ur display,just replace it if u have warranty.

This is a hardware problem and you will need to replace the drive. The hinge screws need to be removed in order for the keypad to lift up. Under the keypad should have at least 2 screws holding the dvd rom. Remove them. If you turn over the laptop, check to see if there are any screws needing to be removed before taking out the drive. If the connection and physical size of the drive of the ferrari 3400 dvd drive is the same as this, it should work as a replacement. Make sure you check the port of the dvd drives that they are the same, as you don't want to force it and bend any pins.

Can you be more specific about which error messages you are getting? This is important because it will tell us whether the laser or motor is burned out, or if you are just being stopped by copy protection.
