I had the same problem. Returned to Acer and mother board was replaced within warranty.  A year later the same thing happened.  Returned to Acer for new mother board ($500.00) due to out of warranty. But there is more: now there is no video output at the external monitor connector.  And finally, the built-in speakers and microphone stopped working.  I have to use headphones.  Support from Acer has been very poor.  Too bad because I drive a Ferrari which has never given me any problem.  Italian versus Japanese engineering!!!

Hi, I too have the cursed Acer Ferrari 3400.

I too was barely out of warranty when my laptop started freezing when running any sort of graphic intensive app and going to a black screen with no response. And getting seriously HOT in the process.

When Acer found I was out of warranty i was treated like the plague and denied any help.

I hate Acer. Do I smell a class action?

Or perhaps we could mail Ferrari corporation and inform them how Acer is dragging their good name through the mud.

Email me at [email protected] if you have had a motherboard failure less than 2 years out of warranty. Heat can cause fires and my Acer gets unacceptably hot.

If we find enough people like us we have a solid case for defective hardware lawsuit. Or at least a free repair service....

    Heres hoping..

Most of the heating problems with laptops are that people forget to air blow the heat sink and the rest of the inside in the computer and, don't know that laptops collect dust which turns into lint in the heat sink and makes it get extremelly hot. This can make you loose your cpu if it occurs often.

I hope this helps. I own an Acer Ferrari 3000 since 2004. It's a great laptop but has a distinct heating problem. Most Ferrari users in warm countries (Persian Gulf, for example) report issues related to over heating. As such, the machine is sensitive to cooling fan irregularities such as clogging by fluff, hair and dust. When my Acer Ferrari 3000 got clogged with dirt - it exhibitted this exact behavior. I could not start it, it hanged, sometimes, before the bios was loaded it sounded a series of alarms, and I could not use it. I took a very simple low tech measure. I took a vacume cleaner, set it on max power, and placed the sucking hose near the vent shaft at the back of the machine to **** out all the dirt. (I recommend you do this when the machine is shut down - so you do not interfere with the cooler operation). Then I repeated this procedure at the shaft at the bottom of the machine. Low and behold - my problems were over.

Take care!!! I enthusiastically vacumed the key board too. This resulted in my 'escape' key being peeled off the key board and sucked down the vacume cleaner hose. I had to dig it out - not a pleasant task, at all.

Seems like you have a dead battery AND now a broken power cord.
Just in case, remove battery and power cord and hold the power button down for minute.

I have a Acer Ferrari 4006wlmi, which I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with it. It does turn on but HD indicator just stays lit (no flickering as to say it's accessing), it was undergoing...

Please remove the laptop battery and disconnect the Ac power. Then press POWER ON button and hold for 1-2 minutes. Then power on with the AC adapter only. Then start the laptop. It will powered on. After that shutdown laptop and reinsert the laptopbattery.
Even it wont work, remove the battery, hard disk and ram. Just insert the RAM and try to check the display. then insert hard disk and check the working nature of laptop on AC power only..

Further any clues please provide the feedback..

Acer ferrari 3200 pc notebook problem

Hello. Vista needs a repair. You will want to start by putting in your own vista disc or borrowing one from someone. If your laptop isn't booting from the disc, then enter the bios (by hitting f2 or f12 usually) at bootup and select the DVD/CD rom drive to boot first. When the vista disc loads you will want to select recovery tools. Then select "startup repair". That should fix your problem.

I own a acer ferrari 3400

The freezing, if you say there are no registry problems, could be a spyware or trojan running in the back ground. although you say you have norton it doesnt pick everything up, and some trojans cannot be removed when the pc is running normally so the best thing to do is start the notebook in safe mode (F8) on boot up and select start windows in safe mode) and run both the below programmes. They are both free and free updating, the registry cleaner programme to download first clears any unused or irrelevant registry files, the second is an anti spyware removal programme to check for things norton has missed. Another problem could be corrupt or conflicting drivers so ensure all you drivers are upto date on the Acer website.

Ferrari Acer 3200 Cd/DVD Drive Eject Problems

This is a hardware problem and you will need to replace the drive. The hinge screws need to be removed in order for the keypad to lift up. Under the keypad should have at least 2 screws holding the dvd rom. Remove them. If you turn over the laptop, check to see if there are any screws needing to be removed before taking out the drive. If the connection and physical size of the drive of the ferrari 3400 dvd drive is the same as this, it should work as a replacement. Make sure you check the port of the dvd drives that they are the same, as you don't want to force it and bend any pins.
