It sounds like you did not set your PC video resolution to the correct aspect ratio, you should set it to the native resolution of this monitor to get the best pictures.

Picture Size

Keep in mind that not all programs and show are in widescreen format. When set to normal, you will get those black bars on the sides because the program is sized for the older TV's. Some TV's will have a zoom option, but that will cut off some of the top and the bottom of your picture.

Until everything goes widescreen, you are stuck in normal with those black bars or widescreen with the fat people.

I hate distortion in my TV image, so I am perfectly fine with my TV on normal.

Good luck.

Image on screen is distorted and i am unable to see anything

Hello,

I think the picture board on your lcd is malfunctioning, that is why the image is distorting and since you said you cannot see anything, it means the picture board of your lcd has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the lcd to a local repairer within your vicinity or any service center to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

A box stating not optimum mode-get distorted internet images

Sounds like your resolution is not set correctly.

Try going to Start-->Control Panel-->Display and choose the Settings Tab

Under there change the resolution slider bar to 1280x1024

Should do the trick!

Replaced IP board on Samsung 930B now other problems.

Try a little backtracking....Check all internal connections. Make sure you didn't leave any insulator out allowing pc contact to case where it should not be. Make sure no wiring is pinched under screw or pc card causing a short to case.

Streaks make letters fatter every 2 inches apart across screen

this is called phase it can be set auto by the button or you can disconnect the power and next day reconnect and leave it in default which can be better than letting the monitor try to set the phase.

Screen Distortion at certain Refresh Rates

Have you connected the laptop to another monitor and use the same refresh rates that cause the distortion? If the distortion appears on a different monitor, then I would have your laptop examined by a pc engineer, but, if the distortion only appears on the 997DF monitor, I suggest having the monitor checked at a repair shop, also, have you tried connecting the 997DF to a desktop PC, and use the same refresh rates?
