Hi,
1) The first step should be your driver CD, that came with the
mother board.
2) The next step is to open up the windows device manager,
and look for yellow exclamation marks, indicating any drivers
that don't work.
On XP,
Right-click My Computer,
----> properties
----> Hardware
----> Device manager ...
3) Right on any device in the list, and SCAN for
hardware changes. Let Windows do its thing if
it needs to re-install any drivers.
4) You should be able to download the latest device
drivers from ASUS (here):
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
5) Finally, sheck your BIOS settings, to make sure the
audio hardware is enabled.
Hope this gets you started.

that is a motherboard problem. The good news is that you can add a sound card to your system and disable the built in sound for relatively low cost.
If you find this helpful please rate fixya.
