Hi, unfortunately Coby is not manufactured any longer. I have a problem not the same as yours, but I can't use my headphone when using my Panasonic Blu-Ray player. Have to use the sony digital surround sound. nothing comes through the Coby...If you have an extended warranty, I would call and have it replaced with another 40 inch brand..They can't fix it.I'm calling to have mine replaced or repaired...sorry i couldn't be better at helping..

Try the head phone jack there are some kool remote systems out that support the head phone output.

you can also place them anywhere in the room.

it is possible your tv was subjected to power surge try contacting a local repairs man

I also have a samsung 40 inch. Try hitting the menu button on the remote the scrolling over to the right once and scroll down and hit pictures reset to see if that works. If it doesn't check your connections coming from the back of the source and the tv itself.

You need to get a special scart lead which you can connect your red, white and yellow leads to then connect the scart lead to your tv it should work then

This may not really be a solution to your problem, but here it goes. If you are not sitting a particular distance from your tv you will experience slight pixelation. I have this tv myself and I think it looks great. Now when I am sitting up close on a station that is broadcasting in 720p(which is pretty much every HD station) It looks only pretty good...I sit back and it is fantastic. The good rule of thumb is take the number or inches your TV is in yours and my case 40, divide by 10 and then multiply by 2...and that is the number of feet you should be for optimal viewing distance. So 8 feet, you would be surprised to see how sitting this magic number away makes a difference.

The display screen is made of a matrix of elements connected to cables along the side and top. On your unit, some of these many, tiny connections are making contact intermittantly thus losing the elements in that area. These contacts are held in place with just pressure and if that is disturbed, you lose that line of elements. Try squeezing the cabinet of the TV on the outside at the top in the area of the loss and see if that makes a difference. May have to go inside and see if the contact assembly is disturbed or warped or something.
