It has automatic channel 19/9. make sure its off. Other then that, if it is off, and its going to 9, then there is probably something wrong with it. That's the worst radio cobra ever made. I don't know why they still make it.

Its a cobra 25ltd when i key the mike sometimes it hangs keyed up and does it with defferent mikes so the mike is not my problem.

take some electrical spray cleaner and lightly spray the inside of the radio where the mic plugs in. could also be a keying diode.

mike has wiring problems. Check for breaks in cord and where the plug goes into the unit. If not original mike then has incorrect wiring for the radio and will need to be changed for config

Have a galaxy dx959 and it makes a humming sound through the speaker only when the mike is keyed and goes away when the power is turned down. all items are stock including mike any input?

Sounds like you are getting some feedback from somewhere. I would check inside the mic connector for a shorted, loose, or twisted wire then check inside the mic itself for same, if you can, try a different mic that is wired for your radio, my bet is there is some stray RF floating around somewhere.
Hope this helps,

Cobra 29 when you key the mike the channel lights, tran/rec light

I had a similar problem with another brand radio. My power supply I was running it on was not rated high enough in the amp category. Are you running on a power supply or battery?

Uniden 520xl makes humming noise when mike is keyed

if you have a power mic , you might have it turned up to high. next make sure you have a good ground on your antenna. if that is ok and you still have the same problem have the swr checked. this should fix the fm radio noise.

Ch 9

Hi larry, That is a normal ch 9 default on electronic channel changers. Small midlands/cobras also do that. Try taking the red/hot power wire loose and attaching it to a power source that is hot all the time. That way there will be power going to the radio with the key shut off and it should retain the last channel you were on.
Hope this is what you were looking for, let us know,, Mechanic

Lost channels in a galaxy 66v cb radio

as far as the transmit frequency changing while you have the mic keyed this is normal, the transmit frequency is a little different than the receive, as far as the lost channels go you need to check the galaxy website and check to see if thier is any fixes listed. if none is listed then you can send the tech's a e-mail and tell them your problem and they will advise you on what to do.
