Cobra 19 DX IV CB Radio Questions & Answers
My Squelch on my Cobra
It means either the knob or something in the squelch circuit has gone bad. Doesn't mean that you cannot use the radio, you will just hear static all the time when no one is talking. If the static bothers you, you can always back the RF gain down a bit. That will quiet the noise, but lower you receive range. meaning you won't hear as far away.
Can you adjust a 'rubber duck' antenna? I have a
Sorry, but each rubber duckie is cut to a specific frequency, with the actual antenna windings sealed inside the rubber/plastic outer shell. Because of this construction, there is no adjustment feature.

I have a cobra radio
you should have check to see if one transmitted and the other received before you did all this then there would be no problem of this nature . Its probably not the IC but a resister or a diode.
How do you used swr meter
The SWR meter on the radio is some what accurate, you might want to use an external meter. First thing you do is get a pencil and paper to write down the readings. On your meter you will notice it says FWD and REF. Set your radio on channel one then set your meter on FWD , key your mic , adjust the meter to the check line , then switch it to REF and do the same . Now write this number down. Switch to channel 40 and do the same then do the same on 19.If you have a final reading of 1.5 over the band then you are ok but if its higher on 40 then on 1 you have to shorten the antenna , if its higher on 1 then you have to lengthen it . Continue this until you have a satisfactory reading.
