Just like another post in this thread mentioned, your radio has a switch on it that, when set to the channel 9 setting will go to 9 automatically. Same with channel 19 if selected will always default to 19. Set this switch to either CB or NOR for normal operation and you will be able to select any other channel.
The orange wire goes to a fuse that is always on. That's how it remembers things when it is powered down.Like the clock on a Car stereo.
Hi larry, That is a normal ch 9 default on electronic channel changers. Small midlands/cobras also do that. Try taking the red/hot power wire loose and attaching it to a power source that is hot all the time. That way there will be power going to the radio with the key shut off and it should retain the last channel you were on.

through all available channels in your area
and add them into the TV's memory.
STOP
2.2 Press VOL (-). CH SEARCH will stop at
the current channel and will not add any
higher channels.
2.3 Press MENU to exit.
