Jvc video camera

When i turn on the camcorder it says remove lens cap but i have already removed it As soon as I switch on the camcorder in the recording mode, an error message appears on the display "remove lens cap", although it has already been removed. The message disappears immediately, but the LCD display remains black. The camcorder records sounds, but can't record images. As I live in Italy, I have contacted the local customer service, but I doubt I will get assistance from them, since I bought the camcorder in Asia about 16 months ago. After visiting a number of websites dealing with this kind of problems, I realized that my problem is a common one with several Jvc camcorder models, so is there anything I can do? Thank you so much for your advice.

Thanks to pinklady544 for the info - hopefully this will no longer be a left over piece of equipment gathering dust. Below is the information I have been sent via email - you do not need the original receipt, and they pay all costs. So at least JVC (after a long time) have accepted the problem and are rectifying it.

Please include the following Proof Of Purchase with the camera: None

This authorisation is valid for three months from the date of issue.

We regret any inconvenience caused by this problem and look forward to a swift resolution. However, should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us on 0870-330-5000.

Common problem! The CCD is knackered - you just have to replace it, fiddly with all those tiny screws, so if you are not confident to do it yourself, any camera shop will do it. And charge you a fortune by the way. This is the only solution though. May be cheaper to buy another one.

It sounds like your camera has gone "blind" if you will. This is a service issue on the CCD (eye of camera).

I own a jvc-d93 digital video camera and when recording the screen is black and the words lens cap appear even though the lens cap is off,can you help.

Please check whether the Camcorder is fully charged. Then, try resetting the Camcorder to the factory settings. Try Power resetting the Camcorder.
To Power reset the Camcorder, remove the battery of the Camcorder press the ON button(if switch, then keep the switch in ON position) for 30 seconds and reinsert the battery in 1 minute. Then, check the operation of the Camcorder.
If the issue still persists, then service will be required. It seems to be an issue with the CCD of the Camcorder.

Display is black even after removing the lens cap

See my post of before. I just knocked the camera on the floor by mistake and it miraculously started working again after years. Shows it must be mechanical and not related to software.

I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER!
this is a strange method so bare with me (found the solution on another site)
turn on the camera and then hold it upside down then for want of a better word "tap" the camera near the lens (i tapped the mic in front of the flash) and hey presto your image will return!
dont ask me what this does as i have no clue, it might have the same error after you switch off the cam but just follow the same method and it will show images. or if your not happy giving your camera a slap then speak to JVC or any camera repair centre.
heres then link where i found this solution
