Picture problem I have a Hitachi 43FWX20B about 5 years old and it suddenly looks like one of the colors is peeling down from the top. Is this fixable? and how? thanks.

What you described sounds like a convergence problem. When convergence has failed the colors will commonly look 3D,warped, etc. This tips page here on Fixya has more details.

How old is this television?

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Check all cables,replaced all cables if more than couple years old.After that the same,ur tv have one dead color gun,require service.

First have the convergence IC's replaced these are the two large black IC's mounted on an metal heat sink.

It is failure of convergence out ICs causing 3-D type picture on screen, you need to replace two big ICs in convergence section on main board.

You are missing either red drive signal to CRT or you have a cold / fractured solder joint on the television. Also with the set unplugged check with a non metalic object like a ruler or a wooden spoon and start tapping around in the front or back of set and see what happens. I have a similar pblm. But your first step is to power on with tv's button. Look into the back through holes and look for 4 green and 1 red LEDs lit. If not there are 3 fuses on the power supply board.Fuses can be easily changed.
