I have a philips norelco 7340xl with dead batteries. I disassembled the unit and used a heat gun to remove the old battery. I replaced the battery with an energizer nimh rechargable just like the dead one. I soldered it in. I shaved with it once. The razor was running full rpms and gave no indication that it was running out of juice. after my shave i put the razor down. A few hours later I came back and the battery was hot to the touch. The razor was completely dead. It appears as though the battery discharged without the razor being on. My soldering job looks decent so I'm not sure what happened. Any ideas how this can be fixed?

If your solder joints are good and no solder has slopped over to short it out, the only thing left to check is the polarity of the battery. Positive end goes toward the motor

Polarity is good. Solder job on the end is good. - end is a little sloppy but not really much overflow. I guess i can try soldering a different battery and see if anything changes. Any other ideas? Is it that I can't use just an energizer nimh rechargeable for some reason?

If it is the correct rated battery, it should work. Make sure no solder dripped onto the circuit board whene it shouldn't be. I have installed many thousands of batteries and there has never been a 'defective' battery. You will find the battery that is made for your shaver at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

The 7340XL uses a LiIon 14500 battery, not NiCd or Nimh. Different voltage. The new battery was being overcharged.

How do i replace the battery unit in a hq7390,solder it in or replace whole plastic battery unit?

The battery is soldered in. The easiest way to fix your problem is to purchase the part linked below from shaveroutlet.com. It is a complete shaver handle with all internal parts, including battery. It is compatible with your model and all you would need to do is snap your head assembly onto it

Model 9190XL does not hold charge. The screen promises 95 minutes and that decreases quickly to 75 and then 55 and then 0.

Battery needs replaced. You will find the correct battery at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

Scroll down page for disassembly video. For easier replacement, it is suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

How do I change the batteries in my 6885XL razor

You will find the correct battery pack for this model at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-battery-pack-for-most-norelco-more-p-278.html

Remove the two screws on the back to take off the back cover. One of the screws is hidden by the trimmer so you must extend the trimmer to see it. Once back is removed, remove the metal clip at the bottom end of the batteries. For easier replacement, it is sometimes suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

Soldering is required to replace the battery pack. If you are not capable of soldering in the new batteries, you may want to consider buying the item below instead for easy installation
