HDMI Cable - No Sound L42WD22 RCA Flat Panel TV

I purchased a RCA L42WD22 Flat panel TV. I hooked up an HDMI cable and have picture - I do not have sound. I've read the only fix is to take to repair shop. Is there an alternate solution. Thank you.

i have the same problem. i have had the tv for just over a year and the sound all of a sudden doesn't work, nor does the side av jacks where i plug my playstation into. sounds like a bad board and/or connection inside the tv to me, but i don't want to pull anything apart without any assistance.

No sound and a digital picture. i will assume you have no signal on analog rf cable. Thomson(RCA) have been having problem with these sets. The trouble stems from the digital cuircit board. We see alot of these. You used to get the digital board.. they are not availble.. so rca found the component on these that fail.. A VERY SMALL surface mounted fuse. With a lighted magnifer and some fine tip twezzers. we replace these fuses on these boards. Do you have any soldering experence..

HDMI I have no sound when hooking up my HDMI(cable output) to DVI.

DVI does not pass audio to the HDMI cable. You must use an audio cable (red & white RCA connector) for the TV

What's your problem?I just purchased a I just purchased a Sharp LC32SV40U. I'm trying to hook it up with my Shaw Direct DSR 505 receiver (DVI to HDMI. I cannot find how to get sound using this

When using this type of adapter you only feed video into the TV/monitor
you have to use a separate set of RCA audio wires to feed the audio into your tv.

I tried hooking up my laptop to my 37lh20 tv. I connected the avi to the pc input and an audio cable fro the headset jack on the tv. If I put the tv input on rgb pc I get the picture but no sound and if...

Unless you hook HDMI to HDMI, you won't carry sound across the HDMI cable. If you're using a VGA to HDMI converter, you'll get the picture but no sound.

I have a feeling the headset jack on the TV is an output rather than an input. Most TVs accept HDMI, RCA, or a digital audio input (either coaxial or optical). Unless you have a S/PDIF optical output from your laptop (and you obviously don't have an HDMI output), then your only other choice is likely to get a cable that splits a 1/8" headset type connector into two RCA plugs that you'll plug into an AUDIO IN input on your TV.

I HAVECONNECTED ALL MY SPEAKER WIRES,HDMI CABLEAND CONNECTED THE YELLOW AUDIO CABLE.POWERED UP THE DVD BOX BUT I ONLY GET SOUND FROM TV.the tv is a new 47'' LG.

If you are using HDMI cable you will not be using the YELLOW RCA plug sine the Yellow pug is for composite video. Analog audio uses RED (RIGHT) and WHITE (LEFT) for sound.
How exactly youhave the whole thing setup? through the receiver or just between the TV HDMI port and the HDMI port on the DVD player?
You will also need to setup the HDMI sound set up to send the sound through the HDMI cable or through the audio analog RCA ports.
More info needed. Hook up per DVD and TV user manuals

I have a toshiba 42HL196. With HDMI cables hooked up, I have no picture when attempting to watch cable TV or use my DVD player. Everything works when I hook up using RCA cables. What is my problem?

By no picture, do you mean that you have sound? If yes then ensure that the tv and the DVD player/cable box is set to the same resolution as that of the tv. That should resolve the problem.

My sound just went out and the picture is fine

Be sure the speakers are "on" on the menu......un plug it and your cable or sat reciever for a bit and re start them both. Lastly see if problem still there on a dvd player........if so............it may need a main board. You may be able to circuimvent by getting sound thru a surround or amplified spkr set up and hook to your cable or sat reciever too
