    Greetings Lee,

    My operating system is XP. the program does run to the first window where it allows me to click on the ClickArt Gallery button. Immediately after that I receive the message.

    Greetings Lee, I have followed your instructions explicitly, including the second iteration of opening Windows Explore and right clicking on the Broderbund Software folder. When I open the folder and properties, the drop down window does not have a security tab..... What's next...???

    Yes, I''ve followed all of your instructions and I'm receiving the same message

First off what operating system are you installing this on? Does the program run at all? Once I know what operating system you are installing it on I can give you a detailed solution.
Thank you,
Lee

    For WinXP

    Step 1: Start in Safe Mode

    * Boot
    your computer into Safe Mode. (This can be done by pressing F8
    repeatedly while the computer is restarting, then selecting 'Safe
    Mode'.)
    * If more than one Operating System is listed for Safe Mode, select your Operating System
    * Select the account 'Administrator'.
    * A pop up window will appear saying that Windows is running in Safe Mode. Click YES to continue in Safe Mode.

    Note: For further instructions on how to boot into Safe Mode, please consult your computer’s User Manual.

    Step 2: Navigate to the Broderbund Software folder

    * Click 'Start'
    * Click 'My Computer'
    * Double Click the C:\ Drive
    * Double Click 'Documents and Settings'
    * Double Click 'All Users'

    * Double Click 'Application Data' (This folder may be hidden. So, if
    you do not see this folder, follow the directions below to view that
    hidden folder.)

      * To view hidden Files and Folders do the following:
      + Click 'Tools'
      + Click 'Folder Options'
      + Click the 'View' tab
      + Scroll down to 'Hidden Files and Folders'
      + Click 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'
      + Click 'OK'

    Step 3: Change ownership of the Broderbund Software folder

    * Right Click 'Broderbund Software'
    * Left click 'Properties'
    * Uncheck 'Read Only'
    * Click 'Apply'
    * A window will pop up. Click the bubble that says 'Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files'.
    * Click 'OK'
    * Click on the 'Security' tab
    * Click on the 'Advanced' button (Doing this will open a new window.)
    * Click the 'Owner' tab
    * Click on the user called 'Administrators' (make sure you choose the plural version)
    * Check the box that says 'Replace owner on sub containers and objects'.
    * Click 'Apply'
    * Click 'OK' to all the remaining Settings windows.
    * Restart the computer and try to run the Broderbund program.
    if that doesn't work try this:
    1. Open Windows Explorer.

    2. Go back to the same Broderbund Software folder as directed above.

    3. Right click on that 'Broderbund Software' folder, then select 'Properties' in the menu that drops down.

    4. When the 'Properties' window opens, click on the 'Security' tab.

    5. Click on 'Administrators (Vista/Administrators)' in the 'Group or user names:' box.

    6. Check the settings in the 'Permissions for Administrators' box.

    7. If you do not see a check mark in the 'Allow' column next to the 'Full Control' item, click on the 'Edit' button.

    8. When the next window opens, click on 'Administrators (Vista/Administrators)' in the 'Group or user names:' box.

    9. Click in the 'Allow' box next to the 'Full Control' item - to place a check mark in that box.

    10. Click on 'Apply', then click on OK.

    11. Restart the computer then try to run the Broderbund program.

    Thank you,
    Lee

    You may just want to try and skip that part and continue on with the instructions, did you try using it again and see if the problem is persisting?
    Thanks,
    Lee

I am unable to install the update for Versacheck 2002 - message is "Can't create output file: C:\Program Files\G7PS\VersaCheck 2002\_Update\ZUpdate.exe" I followed the instructions from...

1. Check that the path exists, i.e., you have a folder named: C:\Program Files\G7PS\VersaCheck 2002\_Update\ 2. Check that you have permissions to create a file there, e.g., create a simple dummy.txt file in this directory with notepad (you can delete the test file after that)
If (1) is the problem - create the necessary folder(s) if (2) is the problem - check the you run as administrator

Try running the software as Administrator; right click on the exe or shorcut and choose "Run As Administrator. That should hopefully solve the issue.
if it doesn't, what software are you trying to run?

Oregon Trail 5th Edition installation fails at 13% with a "Severe" pop-up message that says: Cannot Create Directory Current File:*.* I am running the installation with the administrator account on Windows...

I found the answer to this problem. The problem is the install tries to write to files in the c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents directory. For some reason, that directory had lost the ownership. Try searching for "my documents access denied". For XP home, I had to boot in safe mode, then take ownership of the directory. Once I did this, the install could write to the directory and it installed!

Some programs do not install the full contents of the disk. Was there an option for full installation or part installation? Try running the program with the disc in your pc-the the art gallery clips may well be on the cd and not copied onto your pc even though the software program is.

I can not install the program for the Digital Arts & Crafts Studio on my computer for my 4 years old daughter. During installation process I have the following error message: Error 1317 an error occurred...

This error is related to directory permissions and you might have to change some registry settings which is a complex task so it's better if you first try this very effective workaround.

While installing this software, there muist be one step where it is asking for the location to install. At that step chsnge the installation location as
Assuming you have XP
c:\documents and settings \(Your user account name)\Digital Arts\

In case if you have vista
c:\User\(Your user account name)\Digital Arts\
