I found the answer to this problem. The problem is the install tries to write to files in the c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents directory. For some reason, that directory had lost the ownership. Try searching for "my documents access denied". For XP home, I had to boot in safe mode, then take ownership of the directory. Once I did this, the install could write to the directory and it installed!

How do i change my htc text tones (alert) to mp3

To add other sounds to your notifications list, you will need to get to your SD card.

On your SD card, you will need to create a directory titled media. Within the media directory, create a folder titled audio. Within the audio directory, create a folder titled notifications.

Place any .mp3s or other sounds into this notifications folder. Unmount the SD card. Reboot your phone. When you go to Settings > Sound & display > Notification sound, you should see all the newly copied files on your notification list.

Good luck.

How do i add downloaded ringtones to the menu so that i can select them when setting the ring tone for an individual. right now the menu only gives me the canned ringt ones

You will need to access your phone as an external storage device and save your ringtones onto the SD card.

Plug your phone into your computer with the USB cable. On your phone, pull the notification screen down and select USB connected. Select "Mount". Your computer will now recognize your phone.

Go to your SD card and you will need to create a directory titled Media. Inside this directory, create another directory title Audio. Within this directory, create one final directory titled Ringtones.

Place any supported sound files in that final directory and they will appear in your ringtones list.

You can also create an Alarms directory, and use any supported sound files as alarms for your phone.

Remember to pull the notification screen to turn off the usb storage.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

WONT INSTALL!

That error usually occurs when you're installing from a read-only source such as a CD. It's a poorly-written install routine. When the PC needs to write some files during the install process, it can't and fails with the misleading "not enough disc space" message.

You say you've downloaded the software and get the same message. You may need to manually create the directory it's trying to write to. Study the exact wording of the error message. It should give you a clue as to where it's trying to write. Create the directory it wants and that should fix it.

Hope that helps,
Matt
