I purchased a Belkin N1 Wireless USB adapter recommended to me by PC World but it is not working correctly. It WILL locate my network but will NOT allow internet access on it. I did ask specifically in the shop if the adapter would work with my router (which is a NetGear model supplied by Virgin Media)and was assured that it would. I have spoken to Virgin Media's helpline but they advise that they cannot troubleshoot this problem for me because the router is not supplied by them. They have therefore suggested that I take the Belkin adapter back to PC World and purchase one from them instead. I am currently connected to the web via an ethernet cable from my router and have no problem in gaining internet access via this means. The problem therefore clearly appears to lie in some sort of conflict between the adapter and the router? Is this something that you might be able to resolve please?

Hi there!

Theoretically, it should work with each other. I didn't find any documentation at Belkin's site that states the N1 USB adapter being not compatible with 3rd party devices like your Netgear router.

From what I know is N-Draft's wireless technology should be backwards compatible with both wireless-B and wireless-G devices.

1. Do you have other working wireless devices at your network during that time that you have the N1 USB adapter?
2. Were you able to connect to your wireless network? If Yes, what was your IP address at the wireless computer incase you had the chance to check it?

Maybe you can try to inquire with Belkin about what you've encountered with their device for clarification.

Hope this helps!

Trying to install belkin wireless for windows 7 and its saying missing shortcut. How can i fix that?

You need iolo system mechanic(not the one with antivirus) just system mechanic from iolo.com.If this fails to fix your missing shortcut, try "tuneup utilities".You can get this at pc world or staples or office supply units.

Wont work my belkin usb

All wireless adapters use the same radio channels so your adapter will work with your router. (If that wasn't the case, it wouldn't be so easy to connect to networks with a laptop with built-in wireless.)

Belkin n1 wireless usb adapter

Dear Friend,

1. Connect your ISP modem to your PC and configure as Bridge mode.

2. Remove your ISP modem and connect your wireless router to your PC and configure as PPPOE mode. (refer http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/reviews/article.php/3645166 if any doubt on configuration)

3. Now connect your ISP modem to wireless router, The modem should connect to your WAN cable.

4. And Give the wireless router's IP in your laptop as Gateway (In TCPIP settings of your Laptop wireless adapter / or configure DHCP)

5. Now you can access internet on both systems.

Belkin N1 Wireless Adaptor not connecting on PC

what the adviser meant was your pc cannot provide enough power to the usb port to power the unit, assuming you have tried other ports and it still wont work; you will need to either purchase a pci usb 2.0 card adapter or purchase a mains powered usb hub and connect to this instead.
