How do you burn discs that will play on a CDP-CX 355?

You take it to a Sony Service Centre. They are dangerous to work on, and Sony 'do things their own way'.

Did you try cleaning the laser optics with a cleaning disc?

Not easily. You basically have to take out the turntable and everything above it. Then you have to make sure the gears are aligned properly as you do it. Not a job for the faint-hearted. I would strongly recommend having a pro do it. There's a guy on eBay, softduds, who does this very well and I would recommend him highly. He really knows these units and can calibrate to factory specs, in the process replacing all the belts.

take the broken belt to your local ace hardware and get an o-ring the same size. Should work ok for a fraction of the cost of ordering the oem belt.

Take the screws out of the sides, top, and the screws on the back that go into the cover. then lift up.

Could be some dust or debris in the unit. Also be careful that you are not putting fingermarks near the hole section of each CD you put in, as the CD plays from the centre out.

What worked for me was taking the cover off and carefully threading a belt back onto a wheel. There are two motors at the back of the unit, one (I believe) that grabs the discs and moves them in & out of the player, and a second one that rotates the table (i.e., the round slotted thing that holds all the discs). The belt had simply slipped off the wheel that drives the latter. I did remove the back panel as well, to access it better, and inadvertently disconnected a sensor plug, which led to a second round of troubleshooting, but - in the end - I got it working!

si, al mio que es el mismo modelo le sucede lo mismo... la solución es tirarlo a la mierda o como hice yo solo lo uso de depósito de cd's, ajaja
