My answer here only concerns if you're trying to play burned audio CDs. Burn your audio CDs at the lowest speed (1). Try the JVC/Taiyo Yuden brand.

Anything that creates finalized standard audio cd's will do (filenames= xxx.cda). On a PC that would usually mean copying the files from original CD's rather than 'ripping them, then 'burning' the project to a disc.

Buy a cd/dvd cleaner set, a "wet" one is better. Follow the instructions on the set. The main idea is to put one drip of the included at the set liquid (usually isopropyl alchohol) at a specific place (like small brush) on the disk surface and play this disk. That way the "brush" will clean up the laser lens and after that the cd/dvd player will be able to read the disks. BE CAREFULL not to put too much liquid on the "brush". In case this don't solve your problem, the cd player needs laser lens replacement by a technician.

SOLUTION 1:
I have seen a webpage in action that can can open you cd-rom at random. try deleting all your cookies and Temp Internet files, see if that makes a diffrence.

SOLUTION 2:

This advice is the best suggestion anyone could do. Virus, trojans, spyware and hacked into computers cause more problems than anyone can imagine. Even then when virus detectors find virus key files may have to be deleted and a reinstall
of infected program maybe the only solution. The best way to use
a firewall and virus checker is to have them detect attacks before they can run on your computer. So many users use Peer to Peer files sharing and there is usally a virus or trojan in every other file it seems.

SOLUTION 3:

It could be some thing to do with the Cd drive itself, it has to be sent for repair. If the drive does the same thing without a CD in it, check whether some thing is preventing the tray from closing fully. Then of course there ia also a prank program which can do that.

If all the solution doesnt work, its time to repair your Drive ...
