Every time i turn on my playstation it starts for about 2 seconds then turns back to stand by but the red light is now flashing what is the problem and how much will it cost to repair please

Follow the procedure below to fix the problem on your ps3,

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System.

do you get a yellow light? i bet you do..

1)Turn off your playstation 3. If you think your ps3 has been caught by the heat, then wait at least 20 minutes and put it back on again
2) Check if there's any loose cable.
3) Try to put out your playstation's hard-drive, and put it back in. You might want to repeat this 2-3 times for better results.

If this did not work
Send your playstation back to Sony

Sounds like YLOD before the red light flashes it probably starts up for like 2 seconds then the light changes to kind of a yellow color then the red light flashes. If that's the case its a hardware problem. First try letting it cool off - if no luck try taking the hard drive out - still no luck if under warranty send it in - if out of warranty and you cant pay the 150$ you can try to fix it your self at this point it could be your power supply (ebay 50$ - 80$) or reflow the mother board lots of videos on youtube for that.

your ps3 is done. this is known as the yellow light of death.

its a power failure inside the ps3!!! You have to call sony to replace the system it will cost u 150.00 dollars unless ur still under warrenty goodluck because i had to get 3 systems from sony before i got one that worked just right

turn tv on picture comes up 2to3 seconds later tv blacks out then stand by red light flashes 4 times in a row repeatedly..can not turn on or off when stand by light starts flashing but before tv blacks out you can turn tv on and off repeatedly and picture and sound work.You have to unplug power cord for 30 seconds after stand by light comes on to get tv to turn on.
