While disc scratching is known to occur if you move your XBox360 console from vertical to horizontal position while the disc is spinning or by bumping the console while the disc is spinning, there have also been reports that discs have become scratched when the console has not been moved at all. The official line from Microsoft is: "If you are experiencing scratched discs without moving your console you should contact 1-800-4MYXBOX for warranty support from Microsoft." Unfortunately, Microsoft will not replace your scratched discs for free. Instead, they offer a scratched disc replacement program with a charge of $20 per disc.
