Hello.
You can replace the thermostat or merely remember the variation and always compensate for it. This is a common problem with oven thermostats. J.

Can't adjust oven thermostat

Has this just happened or have you suddenly just tested the oven temperature with a RELIABLE thermometer? Some cheaper thermometers can give a false reading. Check with a accurate thermometer first and place it at intervals in different parts of the oven ( it does vary) and take the average

Adjust thermostat

A thermostat only cuts the heating off when the temperature it is set to is reached while the heating is on. If the heating is set to off then the thermostat will do nothing.
Generally you want to think about when you want your heating to come one and off by using the timer and then the thermostat is just used to ensure that you don't waste energy by exceeding the maximum comfortable temperature.

Hope this helps a little.

Kitchenaid Superba walloven/microwave - problem with big oven.

I lost power and had the same problem. 177 degrees and ERR whenever I tried to change it. Reading the manual, I noticed that it was showing the degree symbol instead of F. When you hold down the broil/maxi/econo button for five seconds, it changes to F and then it worked perfectly. Makes no sense, but worked without any repairs needed.

I have a frigidaire stove that heats to 50 degrees hotter than the know setting. Can it be adjusted to read correctly?

There is a calibration method to adjust the oven thermostat plus/minus 35 degrees if it is a digital display. The method varies depending on the model range. This calibration method is used to adjust the thermostat if it is not keeping proper tempature. For example if you are setting the oven to 350 and the actual temp it is keeping is 325 then you could use the calibration method to adjust it plus 25 degrees to correct the temp. Just so you know electric ovens will keep a pretty even temp but gas ovens will vary by 40 or more degrees to keep an "average" temp. For example the burner will come on when the oven is 330 degrees and turn off at 370. 330+370 then divide by 2=350. So a oven thermometer may not show you the temp you set it at in a gas oven but does not mean the oven temp is off.
