You have to install the drivers for the speakers. If you dont have them , then go to the manufacture website and download the drivers selecting the right operating system

Just bought new speaks and I can not hear anything.

Check the following:

1. The speakers are connected to the power supply (if exists/needed) and powered on.
2. The speakers are connected to the GREEN jack of the computer's sound card.
3. The sound card is correctly installed. If it does, you'll see a speaker icon in the system tray (next to the clock), from which you can adjust the volume. If not, refer to the motherboard installation disc to install the audio card drivers (don't forget to restart the computer afterwards)!
4. The volume is high enough and not muted - both in the player and the tray icon.

Speakers will not make sound. all cords are connected. computer doesn't show that any sound device is present

After reinstalling/installing an Operating System you can lose the Audio Drivers or sometimes they just corrupt.. Try reinstalling the Audio Drivers from the disk provide with your P.C./Laptop. If you no longer have the disk just visit the website of the makers of your P.C./Laptop or Motherboard and download the Audio Drivers from there, after that install them.
Thumbs up please if this works for you, thanks.

No sound from speakers

insert the ear/head phone in backpanel sound pin (Green color),

1.if You can hear the sound in ear/Head phone, then the problem is in the speaker.replace the speakers

2.if You can't hear the sound in ear/Head phone, then the problem is in your system audio driver. So Down load the audio driver which is suitable for your system and install it.

Speakers only produce sound when computer is first on.... like the first hour or two. If computer is left on and I need to hear something I have to restart.

Chances are that this is a computer problem but first you need to eliminate the speakers. Disconnect the speakers from the computer and plug them into you iPod. Start it playing and leave it - check that 2 hours later there is music coming from them or longer if you like. If there is still music then the speakers are fine and the problem is the computer.
You will need help on site to sort that.

Need driver for insignia computer speakers (running Windows XP)

You don't need a driver for speakers. Plug them into the green receptor on your sound card or your sound port on your motherboard.

I have a dell pc and I am not getting sound form the insignia 2.0 speakers.

You did make sure that the speakers are plugged into the green audio connections, in the back of your computer, right? If so, try this, go to your control panel and double click Sounds and Audio Devices. Under speaker settings, go to Advanced and check to see if its set for desktop speakers. Also, in control panel, go to Sound Effects Manager and do a speaker test and see if they work. Hopefully this will help.
