In fact both dvd and old cd player appear tp be one according to the computer. My other burner was recognized as drive F/: which no longer exists. It seems that dvd writer is not even there. Check the Master Slave jumper on the back of the drives. If using 2 drives on 1 cable, make sure one is set to master and the other is set to slave. The jumper positions usually are labeled on the top of the drive as "M" and "S"

If you have them set to the same, both drives won't work.

If the drive is sharing cable with a hard drive, try changing the M/S setting.

Replacing an old dvd with a new one

Replacing a DVD drive is so easy. Simply take the old one out and pop the new one in its place. The system should recognize the drive and allow it to operate as is. There is no need for Flashing, Formatting, or changing hardware.

LG GH22LS40 will not work

You will need to check few things to get it working.

1) See that you have attached your DVD cable on the proper port of your motherboard.

2) See that the required jumper is fixed in proper place of your DVD writer.

3) Power cable of your DVD writer.

Cpu doesnt recognize new drive

ok i may be able to help, first of all i must ask if you plugged the cables in correctly and didnt forget the power connector.
secondly, have you been into the BIOS and checked weather or not the device shows up there? to access the BIOS (basic input output system) usually you have to repeatedly press the delete button or F1 button as as the PC boots up(before windows loading screen). If you see the device in the BIOS then you should unplug the drive and return it to it manufacturer. If it does show up in BIOS, also check to see weather the drive is compatible with your current version of windows, this also includes the service pack you have installed. if the device does not show up in BIOS then check the cables again, check for any phsyical damages and return to manufacturer. if this dosent help you im sorry, but theres not much you can do if hardware decides it dosent wanna play.

Installer

Depending on your opearating system CD-WRITER LITE-ON LTR - 52327S and any other cd writer lite- on are plug and play devices which does not need an installer.

All you need to do is properly connect your CD writer on your pc while your machine is off, when you turn on your computer it should be displayed under my computer.

If its not shown under my computer window then its either.
1. Your device is not properly connected
2. Your device have a power fauilure problem
3. Your cabling is faulty

If your device is connected but does not function properly you can
1. update your driver

No discs inserted

Sounds like a media compatibility issue. If you are using high speed DVD+R discs you may wish to try a lower speed +R or even try -R. I had a similar problem with a DVD writer a while back and although the documentation for the unit said it supported +R I couldn't get it to read or write to anything but DVD-R discs.

Doesn't recognize disks anymore

This is a common problem with the Lite-on LVW range of DVD recorders due to changes in the construction of more recent DVD R media. It can be solved with a relatively simple firmware upgrade.

Goto : http://r00.liteonit.com.tw/DC/english/download/index.asp

You'll need to have a blank CD and a CD/DVD writer in the PC you use to download the file.

Follow the instructions on the website to upgrade your firmware, this should then allow you to write to DVD's once again.
