How do I find out which version of light scribe is in my computer? All it says is light scribe ontrol panel. I need to know to be able to choose the right type that is available. It came installed in my computer which I bought 1 year ago. HP vista 64bits

Copy light scribe information? No it won't. If your burner supports light scribe you have to start a editor for light scribe and putt the information there manually and then burn it on a light scribe disc.

You could visit the vendor's website and download a version for you operating system. If you don't know the vendor's website then simply search in Google for the required software. For example if I need to download express scribe for mac I will search in Google with the following keywords "download express scribe for MAC". Once you have downloaded the software you can install it by double clicking it.* Express Scribe is a software used for transcription.

try using nero burning rom latest version that will allow you to use the lightscribe function, but that only in the moment you have a light scribe unit on it.. from what i know the Satellite L305D-S5940 doesent have a light scribe unit

If the DVD-writer was factory-installed, then you can contact HP, and order a replacement CD that will contain the NERO and LightScribe software.
Cost will be under $20 for the CD, and about $20 for courier-delivery.

First,

If your Copying a disk, yes the disks must be the same kind. -R +R RW not always and issue but it must be CD-CD DVD-DVD and if a DVD master is DL it must be copied onto dual layer blanks.

As for manuals, try looking through the install CD, the company doesn't seem to have a website(except for email hosting). If they are not on the CD try contacting them directly

I Have had this problem as well.  First, go to nero's website, and download the latest version for your edition I know that if you use Nero 7 if wont work without the update.  Also, check and make sure that you have the latest drivers and firmware for the drive, as this can also cause it to not be detected.  Also, try a different Litescribe program, and see if it works that way.
