Code purple when turning on computer

Code Purple is a problem exclusive to HP's, the easiest solution is to avoid them. However, it's already too late for you as it was for me. Basically it's an attempt to force you to pay them to service or upgrade your PC, or if you didn't learn the first time, buy another. Here is the most concise answer I found, tried to translate into plain english.

***PLAIN ENGLISH QUICK AND EASY FIX FOR ALL SYSTEMS****
***Windows 7 code purple or Windows Vista code purple***

With the code purple error on the screen, press shift+f10 (the shift key and the F10 key (at the top of the keyboard) at the same time) to open a little screen called a command prompt. (So, you get a little black screen with white text that says something about your Windows verison first and a little ways down you'll see "C:\>". It's all ready for you to start typing.)
Type the following line, just as you see it here...

notepad C:\hp\bin\checkdmi\checkdmi.cmd

so it will look like this C:\>notepad C:\hp\bin\checkdmi\checkdmi.cmd - Note the space between notepad and C:\

Press Enter.

You will see the text for the file listed in a window using a simple text editor.
Go to the beginning of the text. Press enter to make a space. Type this...

goto cleanup

So, whatever comes after, the first line looks like this...

goto cleanup

Save the file and exit notepad and restart your PC. You are good to go

NOTE: From my experience. If you received the Code Purple error during the restore process; after saving and exiting notepad, press and hold the power button until the PC shuts down, wait 15 seconds then restart. If you get a message during start up select "start windows normally". If you don't shut down using the power button and wait for the "windows was unable to finish........", you will likely get the same error again when the system boots. I don't know how to get back to the Code Purple error without doing the restore process again.

The code purple on my computer

Code purple is because an O.S other than a genuine HP has been installed and as it is HP it would have to be HP as it is designed especially to run HP computers only, For example if you try to install an O.S from a Compaq even though Hp and Compaq have merged it is written for Compaq computers not HP and vice/versa. Re-Install your original HP O.S and this should sort out the code purple error. I hope this helps.

Code purple error after system recovery on windows xp how can i fix im a green hand but follow clear instructions very good

There is no way to fix a Code Purple error on an HP computer.

Basically what has happened is that there is a Hard Coded Information "Tattoo" on the motherboard that tells the computer what hardware should be on this machine.  The Hard Code and the hardware do not match.  It is kind of a known fault by HP.

But there is some good news.  No matter long your computer has been out of warranty, this problem IS covered.  The wrong hardware was put into your machine and no matter when this error occurs, HP will support it.

Call HP's tech support and when you speak to a Technical Agent, you let them know you got the Code Purple Error, and they should immediately escalate your call to their Hardware Specialists and set up a service repair where they send you a box and paid shipping label to ship your computer to one of their repair facilities where they will fix it and send it back to you at no cost.  Call 1-800-HP-INVENT.

I used to work for HP tech support and we would see a Code Purple case about once every few months, even on computers 3+ years old.

Unable to reinstall DVD backups after HP SYSTEM RECOVERY failed

Code "purple" means you and your computer are done. It is an unrecoverable error that means you need a new system. However, I have found a couple of postings that claim to know a fix. I can not verify these methods, I do not own a HP or other type of prefab PC (custom is the only way to go). Anyway, here are the links, good luck.

but to fix it.......

take you hard drive out of your computer and install it into some one else's computer ussing the CD/DVD cable( or use an IDE/SATA to USB adapter).

When you have your drive in their computer Search for the file run.py. rename the file run.p_. Take the drive bake to yours and reinstall. Reboot big sigh....
