Simply change the ROM to DVD RW drive since this is an old PC and now days nobody uses a dvd rom but a dvd writer. It will be worth it since it can do all the functions and is also more hardy........sodeep
Since CDs play, this is usually a sign that the optics are failing. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to resolve the problem, the optics will need to be replaced. If you can post the make and model, I can get you the approximate cost for this as well.
Same here!!! We've only used it maybe 8 or 9 times. And it's been worthless for the past month because of it. It reads everything "no valid disk" and nothing will work. And I tried e-mailing customer support several times, with no luck.
Hi,
Try cleaning the lens. A CD cleaner for PC CD/DVD will also work with DVD players. If problem is not corrected, you may need to seek the services of a qualified professional.
Good luck and kind regards.
