RightSound™ Technology:
RightSound™ technology is a feature of Logitech’s new premium webcams
that provides acoustic echo cancellation (AEC). This eliminates echo
and feedback often created by a microphone and speakers that are in
close proximity. Logitech includes this technology so you have clear,
echo free audio while remaining completely headset free for an
excellent audio experience.
What is AEC:
Acoustic Echo Cancellation, or AEC, is an advanced audio enhancing
technology that improves your overall sound experience when talking to
others via your computer. With today's audio and video Internet
communication applications, you and the person you're talking to can
both speak at the same time. It is possible that sounds from the remote
party, when played over your computer's speakers, would be picked up by
your microphone and sent back to the remote party. This problem is
known as echo, and AEC is the technology needed to prevent it from
interfering with the quality of your conversations.
AEC functionality:
AEC's purpose is to prevent sounds coming from your computer's speakers
from being picked up by your microphone. This can be a significant
problem with audio or video calling applications where the sound being
inadvertently picked up by the microphone is the voice of the remote
party who made them. Without AEC, this echo can detract from the
quality of a call; in extreme situations, the echo can degrade the
audio experience to the point where the audio is useless.
