Logitech Quickcam Chat No Audio When Recording Video
My Logitech Quickcam Chat (USB Webcam with Headset Included) that I recently purchased seems to work perfectly, although when I record a video, there is no audio. When I try to use the Audio Tuning Wizard, it claims my microphone isn't working, and I have tried all of the suggestions it offers with no success. Help would be appriciated.

Launch the Logitech QuickCam or Webcam software on your computer. Verify that you see yourself Logitech Webcam software window. Close the software window. Sign in to Skype. Click the "Tools" menu and select "Options." Click "Video Settings," check the "Enable Skype Video" and "Start my video automatically when I am in a call" boxes. Select your Logitech QuickCam from the drop-down list. Your webcam should display video in the window. Click "Audio Settings" if your QuickCam has a built-in microphone and select it from the microphone drop-down list. Check the "Let Skype adjust my audio settings" box in "Audio Settings" so Skype recognizes your microphone. Click "Save" to save the options for your audio and video settings. Skype will close the options menu.

Have you checked the recording settings in Windows and in Skype? Try changing the default recording device to specifically indicate the device that has your headset plugged. I think the webcam also has a mic and that should not be selected.
Other thing to check is if there is some kind of resource conflict between your USB controller and audio card (use Device Manager).
At the bottom right of your screen, you should see an icon for volume. Right click and select Open Volume Controls. Click Options > Properties > recording and make sure all the boxes are checked. Click OK and make sure all levels are maximum and nothing is muted. Next, right click the volume icon again, and select Adjust Audio Properties. Go to Audio tab and then Voice tab and select the appropriate recording device from the drop down menu.
By the way, your camera will only show up under Imaging Devices in the Device Manager and not under Sounds,Vidoe and Game controllers.
Hope that helps!

Try testing it, last time I checked skype has a test section, its hard to find, but its there. You just talk into the mic and skype records it. Then play back.
It is possible the mic isn't working.
Before you consider taking it back, make sure you follow the instructions to the letter.
