Error "AD" when drying

I get an error when drying. it states "ad" on the timer part please help

    i recieve the same problem and i havent even used my dryer much, i bought it last may 2007 but have maybe used it 3 or 4 times because of a house renovation project. i tried the main breaker switch on the how bust still the problem persists where it runs and never warms up and after a while it will stop and display Ad and the four blinking lights next to it. Please help

    I'm having the same problem as the original poster, except mine shuts off after about 15 minutes with the 4 blinking lights. - I guess thinking the clothes are dry (they are not).
    No error code is displayed. Thanks for the education on the definition of error codes, but that doesn't solve the problem.

Yes that is correct ... I was painting my house and they had covered the vent so the airflow was not working correctly and it kept indicating auto dry (need more time indicated) . i figured this out afterwards but thank you for replying

Thats not an error code error codes are f codes eg. f01 f02 thats a cycle code for auto dry are you having any promblems other than the display

I see that your Frigidaire dryer is displaying an error code of "ad". The "ad" error code will display with the "Auto Dry" cycle has been selected. If you did not select the auto dry cycle I would suggest performing a reset on your dryer and you can do that by disconnecting the power cord for at least ten minutes. Once power has been restored to the dryer and if the error code is still persistent you may need to have a replacement control panel or wiring harness installed. I would recommend having electrical parts replaced by a professional technician this will prevent any personal injury. Best of luck! -Matt

Dryer says ad stops mid dry
Good Afternoon Imadesigner Custom,

I see that you are receiving an AD error code on your laundry center, model# FEX831CS, and your dryer is stopping mid-dry. I suggest giving your appliance a hard reset. You will do this by either unplugging it or cutting the power off at the circuit breaker for at least 2-3 minutes. When power is restored to your dryer, if it is still showing an AD error code, I suggest you contact your local authorized technician. I hope this is helpful.

AD = Auto Dry

If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry and the AD error. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly.

it means auto dry it will check the temp of the clothes so if they dryer quicker then 40-45 minutes it will shut off earlier instead of running the full 40-45 minutes. In the manual it says AD is the adjusting time according to moisture level for those who keep drying but display this it is normal for those who display and size to dry is not normal if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations Thanks Rick

The dryers heats up but doesn't completely dry clothes. After 10 minutes a code Ad appears in the timer slot. What is the issue?
AD is air dry, more then likely the vent is restricted and needs cleaned out, you will need to clean the inside of the dry out,also. You thermal fuse is bad. here is a website that will help Good Luck Tim

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error code AD means air/auto dry. This type of dryer has no thermo fuse which is a fuse like part that tends to break disengaging the heating element, there for the dryer has a busted heating element, you’ll need to replace it then it should be good to go. Normally runs parts and labor about 150. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Error code on dryer display
Check your breakers. Mine was doing the same thing, all of the 120v parts of the machine were working. (blower/drum motor/ lights) However the element wasn't coming on. Went to the breaker and found that one side of the 2 pole breaker was tripped. Turned both off and back on. Heater started working again.

When you set the dryer on settings such as normal or permanent press, it engages the various sensors that help the dryer to make the most efficient use of energy. Moisture sensor, heat sensor etc. (THAT IS WHAT TURNS ON YOUR AD SETTING) Normally it selects a time based on factory settings that it believes your load should be dried by. Say 50 minutes at Normal (high heat, normal) Every so often during the cycle, the machine will check the humidity sensor and the other sensors and try to see if the dryer is still on schedule. Sometimes it will determine that more time is needed, occasionally less time. While it calculates, it displays the Ad meaning that the machine is on auto dry. TO TURN OFF AUTO DRY, set it to a time setting instead of a DESCRIPTION setting.
