Problem in my DCP-165C

Get an USB cable (a printer one) - it can be found at every pc shop for less than $10, download (as in Save, not Run) the installer for the driver from

and then launch it - plug in the cable from the printer only when instructed.

• Unplug the machine from your PC
  
• Go to the following website: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/dlf/download_top.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=dcp165c_all
• Select your OS and accept the download.
• Run the download, when prompted to do so plug the printer to your PC
• If the installer does not recognize it, then plug it into a different port on your PC.

before you plug in your printer, install the software that came with you printer, in a CDROM.

During the installation you will be prompted to plug in your printer. At that moment , and make sure that your printer is turned on, plug in your printer in a USB port that works.

I cant find the machine DCP-7020 but I think this machine is the same with model MFC-7420 if you have the installer CD follow these steps:

1 Turn off and unplug the MFC from the AC outlet and disconnect it from your Macintosh, if you already connected an interface cable.
2 Turn on your Macintosh.
3 Insert the supplied CD-ROM for Macintosh into your CD-ROM drive.
4 Double-click the Start Here OS 9.1-9.2 icon to install the printer and scanner drivers. If
the language screen appears, select your language.
5 Click MFL-Pro Suite to install.
6 Follow the on-screen instructions, and restart your Macintosh.
7 Connect the USB interface cable to your Macintosh, and then connect it to the MFC.
DO NOT connect the MFC to a USB
port on a keyboard or a nonpowered
USB hub.
8 Plug in the power cord and turn on the MFC.
9 From the Apple menu, open the Chooser.
10 Click the Brother Laser icon.
On the right side of the Chooser, select the
MFC to which you want to print.
Close the Chooser.
The MFL-Pro Suite, Printer driver and Scanner driver have been installed.
To install Presto! PageManager, click the
11 Presto! PageManager icon and follow the on-screen instructions.
Presto! PageManager has been installed and the installation is now complete.
You can easily scan, share and organize photos and documents using Presto!PageManager.
