Here are the steps you'll need to go through to get your music to download successful from your Windows PC to your new Sony PSP unit:

  1. Connect the PSP to your PC with a USB cable. (about $10: buy a USB cable for your PSP)
  2. Press the "home" button on the PSP (it's a tiny button to the lower left of the screen) then use the left-right directional buttons to find "Settings", then the up-down buttons to find "USB Connection" on the PSP.
  3. Press the "X" button (you got it, the round button with the "X" on it) and your PSP should display "USB Connection".
  4. In a moment or two your computer should tell you that a new USB device has been connected, then show you a new generic hard drive, usually E: or F:
  5. Click on the drive letter that corresponds to the PSP unit.
  6. Now create a new folder on that drive and name it "psp".
  7. Within the new "psp" folder create another folder, and name it "music".
  8. Copy your desired mp3 files into the new "music" folder.
  9. When you're done copying your desired music tracks, press the "O" button on the PSP to get out of USB connect mode.
Now you're ready to go! Use the left-right arrows to move to the music area, then the up-down arrows to find "Memory Stick". Chose that folder by pressing the "X" button again, and you should be able to find all your favorite music!
Note that the PSP running older firmware (firmware is the "operating system" of the PSP) does not support any Windows Media formats i.e WMA & WMV, so any music you have in that format must be converted to MP3 before copying to your PSP. Fortunately, Sony's very own Image Converter 2.1 can convert all your music with a very simple GUi and will then also manage all the measuring and transfering for you too.
If Image Converter doesn't seem up to snuff, then there are various other solutions for converting audio files, including the free Windows application
If you really want to play WMA format audio files, make sure you have the latest version of the firmware from Sony (see below for update instructions).

Cant find songs in psp

You can not just make a folder and think it will work. That is not how the psp finds songs. The psp only looks in one place every time for music. Go into the psp memory stick and open the PSP folder and then there should be a MUSIC folder. That is where you put the music.

How to download songs, videos, picture and games to my psp?

Contec your PSP to your computer. Navigate to your PSP on your computer and create these three new folders: VIDEO, MUSIC, and PHOTO. You can now add any of those media items to those folders and they will appear in folders on your console.

Good luck,

I downloaded a movie from my Pc. and now I cant see it on my psp.

You need to make sure that the movie is the right format for the PSP to read. The PSP only understands ".mpeg4" video files.

Sony psp

1) Plug The USB Cable To Both The PC And PsP. 2) In The 1st Menu On Your PsP, Enable The USB Connection. 3) Go To My Computer, And You Will See A Folder Under Removable Storage, (For The PsP) Open That, Open The Folder PSP, and create a folder called "MUSIC" 4) Copy Your Music To That Folder. It Goes the same for a card reader aswell, because your PSP acts as a memory card reader. and you can also put movies in the video file but the video format must be mp4
