If it will not turn off on the Timed Dry cycle the failure is in the timer. The timer is the component behind the large knob on the console. If you supply me with the full model number from the front panel inside the door, I can get you a part number and approximate price of the part.

Whirlpool WFW75HEFW0 power turns off automatically

does your dryer have a dry sensor ? if so try changing the dial to a different setting that doesn't use the sensor, also some models have a separate button to turn off the dry sensor. it is meant to save energy if your clothes are dry before the time you set

Dryer runs for five minutes then stops, so has power. there is no error code, where do I start to find problem?

Usually with no error code its almost always in the board ..My suggestion is try to run it through test mode if it wont run through then replace your main board. The papers for this should be under the top panel tremove it look for some papers usually on the left as you are facing your dryer hope this helps

My roper dryer works fine, it heats and the timer advances, it just wont shut off at the the end of a timed dry or auto dry. What do you think?

A timed drying cycle uses the timer alone to stop the drying cycle. Once it times out like an egg timer a set of contacts open up shutting off the dryer. Or a set of contacts closes to activate a relay which in turn shuts off the power.
Auto dry usually uses a moisture sensor which would do the same thing as the timer. Once it doesnt sense moisture in the load for a predetermined time it in turn triggers a relay which shuts the power off. Some auto dry cycles just use the timer alone and guess-timate the drying time by the selection.
If yours does not use a moisture sensor then most likely it is your timer/cycle switch. There may or may not be a relay involved.
Most dryers have a basic wiring diagram on the inside somewhere on one of the panels which will help.
Since yours is acting up on both cycles Im guessing you have a bad relay or connection to that relay somewhere IF it uses a moisture sensor.

On my kenmore dryer 970-c82062-00 I can get all 3 timers to start but the heated automatic dry portion does not time out.

that model number doesn't come up,you sure that isn't the serial number?also does the dryer have heat, when you run it on time dry the timer just counts down like a clock, when on auto or more or less the heat comes on until the dryer heats to temp. the heat shuts off and the timer will advance, when the heat comes back on the timer stops moving,it will do this until the clothes are dry,if you do have heat you could have a bad sensor or a bad cycling thermostat but you'll have to check it with a meter.send the model number and i can help you better.

Dryer continues to run past the preset time.

If you are not running the load on "Time Dry", the machine will automatically use the sensor dry settings. Meaning that it automatically adjusts dry time with the dampness of the load. If you look near the time window you will notice that it says "est. time remaining". If you would like to have the unit run for just 20 minutes use the time dry button you will notice the dryness level light will turn off. The means your unit does not care how wet or dry the clothes are it will just run for 20 minutes. Hope this helped explain things.

My electric dryer shuts off after about 20 minutes of drying

ok sounds like you are using dryer sheets,,,dryer sheets coat the automatic dry sensors and fool the unit into thinking the clothing is dry,,,,replace the sensor or try to clean it if possable with a green scrubbie,,,,also try the time cycle it dose not use the sensor.......www.myabcspace.com/washerwizzards

Automatic dry cycles do not shut off

its poassable that the dryer is not drying well.check your house venting.if your clothes are drying well before it shuts down.your sensor bars may have a wax buildup on them.use a rag and a mild cleaner and clean the surface of the sensor bars.good luck!

It will not automatically turn off when running, the knob does not turn while running.

Miss Stephanie you must replace the timer.
If you have a timed dry setting. Run timed dry. If it does not shut off timer is bad.
If it does shut off you have a sensor problem.
