This issue is the infamous "Red Rings of Death". Unfortunately, you will need to send your Xbox back to Microsoft to get it fixed. You can call Microsoft at 800-4MY-XBOX for a price estimation.

It's possible the xbox 360 controller isn't connected to the xbox 360. Turn the xbox 360 on by pressing the power button, and wait until it reaches the dash board. Then press the controller syncing button on the xbox 360 itself and wait until the xbox 360's ring lights start to spin around. Then press and hold the synch button on the controller (located near the charge port) and the controller should synch up with the xbox 360.

Press the power button on the front of the Xbox to turn it on.

As you're doing this look at the power supply to see if the amber light turns green.

If the light does not turn green, you'll need to get a new power supply.

Talk with microsoft and give him a description of your problem. It sounds like the main board is bad but dont quote me on that. You have a one year warrenty on damages like that to your xbox so give them a call and let then know of your situations.

There are many different problems that this could be depending on which lights are flashing. Here is a website that has some solutions for many of them.

This is the problem with the GPU, Just fixed on the other day with the same problem. best way to fix it is with a heatgun and an xbox360 repair kit. The same kit for fixing the 3 red lights and E74 problems.

When you get any of these messages appearing on your screen with one red light flashing on the ROL of your Xbox 360 console that's an indicator of a hardware problem with the console connection to one of the parts connected to it as the hard drive or cables.
So, first disconnect all power and AV cables from the back of your Xbox 360 console and also unplug the power cord from the wall socket, wait for a minute then reconnect them all back and try to turn on your Xbox 360 console once more.

If the lights are red, this means that your 360 has had a hardware failure. This failure is also known as the "Red Ring of Death." If you have bought your XBOX 360 with in 3 years of posting this, your will still have free 3 years of warranty from Microsoft. Call them at 1-800-4my-xbox. (1-800-469-9269)

Duke, take a look at the big 'powerbrick' that powers your xbox, on the front of it there will be a small LED, it should be red/orange if your xbox is turned off. If you see NO LED light then your powerbrick is no longer functioning.

If you DO see a LED, then its likley the Xbox is at fault.
