I broke a needle on something hard. After I replaced the needle it wouldn't go all the way down. I took the screws out and removed the piece that holds the bobbin. I can't seem to get it back in so that the needle goes down.

I had same problem.
Clean bobbin carriage area thoroughly. First unplug, remove all the carriage bobbin parts, remove all lint with small brush and tweezers if needed, add one drop of machine oil (I brushed the one drop of oil in the bobbin carriage groves), put back together. Mine worked great after that. *Tip: At start up, my thread was darker with oil, so I used a zigzag stitch on scrap fabric until the tread came out clean.

This sounds like your metal plate needs adjustment. Loosen the screws and adjust it until the needle goes all the way down. If that doesnt work, ensure that your bobbin case has been aligned properly.

I took the needle holder screws out and the (very) small part that holds the needle came out. can you tell me how to reset this small piece

Wow, you just learned the hard way that you're not supposed to take the screw out completely, just loosen it to take the needle out. I have had to replace them and it is a pain. Best way I've found is to hold a small flashlight in your off hand near the bottom of the tube where the needle is inserted (darken the room a bit, it helps), the light from the flash should shine out of the hole where the screw goes and help you guide the screw back into it. If that doesn't work, you may need to take it to a repair shop.

Get needle out to change it if it is stuck in the slot because it's broken

Pull needle pie out from below:
Take out bobbin case
Get hold of needle with needle nose pliers
While holding needle, loosen screw up above
Pull needle piece down and out.

My consew 226r1 shuttle hook tip broke off. How do I remove and replace this part? Thanks y'all!

Tilt the machine up. There's a screw holding the hook in. Loosen, remove base plates, lift the hook out and replace. Don't move any thing else or you'll have to reset timing.

I need to replace the needle

There is a thumb screw by the needle. Just unscrew it enough to be able to remove the needle by pulling straight down. You may need a small screw driver. HOWEVER, when you take the needle out, by pulling it down, notice where the FLAT SIDE IS It may face backwards or forwards, but it is important that the new needle is inserted this same way. Push the new needle up into the opening where the old needle came out, making sure it is pushed all the way up. You may need to unscrew the thumb screw a bit more to facilitate insertion. Jiggle the needle while pushing it up into the opening to be quite sure it is seated properly. Then, hold the needle with one hand and tighten the thumb screw with the other. Using a small screw driver, (one should have come with the machine), tighten the thumb screw all the way down. No need to over tighten, just make sure it is really snug. Piece of cake:) Good luck. She may have broken it, but he needs to read the manual:)

The needle keeps breaking. The needle seems to be hitting something or getting caught when it goes down and then it breaks off. I can't even get the needle to pick up the bobbin thread because it...

Certain stitches you do, require different base plates...by the base plate, I mean the metal piece that the needle passes through when it goes down through your cloth and through the hole provided...This sounds like why it's breaking, I think your needle is hitting the plate under it. It may not be all that obvious, but it wouldn't take much to snap the needle. You may want to check your setting and make sure it's setup to do a regular stitch. If that's not it, then you need to make sure that the needle is in straight, though I believe putting on in crooked is hard to do.
I hope this helps.

I am sewing a quilt and my needle is in the right place but it keeps breaking. Please help. Also, the thread break often.

here are something you might check
upper thread breaks
1.top tension to tight
2.thread to thick or to fine for needle
3.needle not inserted correctly
4.thread caught on something-spool pin, tension area
5.needle damaged
6.needle thread is not threaded properly

Needle breaks
wrong size needle for fabric
wrong foot is attached
needle clamp screw is loose

also check for lint & pieces of broke needle under the needle plate
also the bobbin case area -take the bobbin & case out & check for pieces of broke needle

here is a tip about needle & thread
Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

When it feels like the needle is jammed, open the bobbin cover and release the two black retaining levers, one on either side of the bobbin case. The hook cover that is visible will be released. If the machine turns by hand smoothly, you may have a piece of the broken needle, or just a piece of thread stuck behind the hook or hook cover causing the bind. This problem will sometime make you swear that the needle is stuck in something because it will usually bind while the needle is down in the fabric.
