JAMMED SHREDDER i PUT A CREDIT CARD IN THE SLOT AND THE SHREDDER IS JAMMED. IT DOESN''T WORK.

Switch to Reverse to remove the card!

You may have paper stuck in the blades and its jamming.try forward and reverse to free it up or you may have the head unit on the can faced the wrong way. Pull it out and turn head around and than try. I know on some shredders if the head unit does not fit on the right way it wount push down the safety switch and it wount run.

It is possible that there is still a piece of the credit card jamming the system. After unplugging make sure that there are no additional blockages. Then plug the shredder in and hold the reset button for ~5 seconds.

Some shredders aren't designed to shred anything more than paper. Credit cards, staples, paper clips and the like could have jammed it up. Try running the shredder in reverse and oiling the blades. More help with paper shredder oil here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Paper-Shredder-Oil

Yes, you can disassemble it, but first I would try spraying the slot with WD-40 from the bottom and then pulling the fragments backwards out the top with a set of straight-nose serrated pliers. Keep in mind that a $50 shredder is pretty much considered a disposable item by the manufacturer and OfficeMax. Getting into it will be hard and you can't get parts should something break. They just aren't made to be serviced.

try shredding a old card, carefully but forcibly push the jammed plastic strip through the teeth.
might be faulty alignment of teeth, a factory defect!

Please ... unplug your shredder before doing this.

It sounds like you were on the right track picking paper out of the gears. The problem is that the paper can get really jammed up in there, especially when you use the reverse.

I found that I needed to use a combination of a small screwdriver with at least a 3 inch long blade to push the jammed paper through. The I use needle-nosed plyers to pull the paper through the other side.

I have a similar problem. I took the shredder head and gear box apart and found two stripped gears. True, the gears are plastic unfortunately (which is why they stripped.)

The gears are simple to get at and to replace. Does anyone know where I can purchase a set of gears for this unit (there are 3)?

sounds like you probally have a stripped or broken drive gear. Contact manufacturer for parts availability.
