I load the disc in my player, and I get audio, but I get no picture. What am I doing wrong?

Everything is connected okay. I followed the directions (I thought) on how to play a movie on my TV screen through my DVD which is connected to the TV. I know the DVD is working, but I can get no picture, and wonder if I pushed the wrong buttons in the wrong order somehow. It has been a year since I have used it, and I have forgotten how I did it before. Everything is connected okay. I wish I could understand what you are asking? It doesn't make much sense to me. In what player? I have a new Sony Bravia HD TV, and the Zenith DVD player is hooked up to the TV (professionally), and I know I am supposed to enter something into the TV to get it to play my movies, but I have forgotten how to do this. I try and try, but have lost my instructions on the Sony. I go to V1, and put my movie in, but no picture, so I have forgotten something here. I wish I could understand what you are asking?
