The TV shuts off by itself.

The TV will shut off by itself. You have to restart the TV. Both the stand-by and the lamp lights blink. Allowing the unit to rest for awhile and restarting it will result in another shut-off after some period of time. The fan appears to be running and I have cleaned out what I can reach by removing the lamp housing.

Verify you are installing the lamp door correctly. Some units require a swinging motion for installation. Insert bottom, swing top of lamp door into place. Or, you may just need a new lamp.

Shuts down after 5 minutes blinks green

Once the set shuts down, wait for the unit to stop blinking. Once it stops hold in the input and menu buttons for 5 seconds. The TV will then give you an error code. A 6-1 or a 1-8 error code would indicate a bad Color wheel. Which I think is the problem you have.

If tv turns back on itself after shut down then it is weak lamp problem, replace lamp in tv to fix its problem.
Buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv and replace it as it is user level repair and lamp replacement procedure is mentioned in related user manual.
If standby light start blinking after shut down, let me know how many times it blinks after three second pause to provide you info about possible cause of problem.

TV shuts itself off after a couple minutes of being on.

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.

Dlp samsung

There are instructions to replace the lamp in the user's manual. The light comes up but if the lamp has now already several hours of use the resistance of the lamp increases and shut down the power supply of the lamp. Second, the lamp power supply could be bad too, but lets be optimistic and just replace the lamp first.

TV will not stay on?

Hello, Hopefully We can help you determine if your lamp has failed. The Most obvious way to determine if you need a lamp is to do a Visual Check of your Lamp. Most of the time the Lamp will have blown and the filament burned. It will also usually be fogged up badly. Sometimes though the lamp will fail and look fine. Hence the blink code test. Todays Televisions Incorporate Blink Codes to be Used by both the Customers and Sevice Technicians. These Codes vary from Brand to Brand. We have compiled a list of these Blink codes in hopes that it will help you determine if Indeed you need a lamp. We say Blink Codes because when there is a failure within most televisions the Front LED Lights will Blink in some form of pattern. It maybe just your lamp light or it could be All of your lights. http://www.alltvlamps.com/samsungtest.htm
