I have an RCA tv 21in truflat model number 20f514td. It's about 2 years old. About a month ago it started randomly turning itself on and off. It stopped for awhile then started up again, and now won't stay on or when it does the picture is just two green and yellow bars across the top of the screen. I don't know what would have caused it to do this.

RCA is notorious for bad solder joints. If you are able, pull the back off, remove the main PCB from the bracket and flip it over. (ps: sorry, Unplug the TV!) Inspect as much of the solder connections as you can, reflow any cold, thin, or cracked looking joints you find. Many RCA TVs have been repaired by just this simple method. If you are not able or confident enough to do this, contact a local repair shop for service.

The power source has aged prematurely and it needs several attempts to delivers the necessary starting current - you will have to open it and replace the filtering capacitors and check the regulating circuits and the board for heat damage (their aluminium radiators are undersized).

My RCA truflat tv won't turn on? It is only like

Could be a fuse in the unit or a bad powersupply i would have a estimate done on it before repair gets started as a newer tv would cost less if this was a major issue.

1. check fuse
2. check power supply unit

If you do not know how to do this would recommend you take it to the experts as there is serious high voltage that can be fatal inside, Please do leave postive feedback and ratings for your free answer today.

TV only 2 months old ceases to work

Hi

I think it is the EHT for some reason it blew off for you. You got a miniature picture after you turned it on again because it was partially damaged and then it blew off completely. It can be fixed from a competent person.

Possessed TV

Either get a priest to do an exorcism..... or it sounds like an internal issue.... likely a bad capacitor. if you are able to do some basic troubleshooting ... remove the back and look for any capacitors with rounded tops.

No Picture - Black Screen. Intermittent Sound

I repaired an RCA same model with a very similar symptom. I found bad connections on the printed circuit board at L411 and L 412 (coils) in the horizontal drive circuit. Give the set a good Fonzie ( Happy Days) smack on the side and see if it comes on. LOL. Bad connections are common with that model. It is probably worth fixing and no, lightning didnt do it.

Turns off by itself

Ours did that too after 2 years of faithful service. We got a quote for repairs equaling around $200 USD when the tv only cost a little over $100. You can price-check to see how much repairs are for places, however, it was just best for us based on retail price paid to get a new one. ... and sometime we shall get one!
