Fuji camera S7000 saying CArd not initialized or card error! we've changed through 7 memory cards all that work great on other cameras!! Is the problem from the camera?

  • Anonymous Mar 05, 2010

The camera has gone to the company b4 they turned off the sensor of the camera,& still the camera's sensor is not completely OFF!!when we touch the door sometimes it turns off!
could they have touched anything by mistake?

We took it yesterday, & they came up with silly problems as not to open it up & get it fixed!
Now they're suggesting we use XD!

Card not initialized

It sounds like you need to initialize (or format) the card. There is a function in the camera menus to do this. If it won't format or gives an error when you try, then there may be an issue with the connectors in the card slot or the card may be incompatible.

It is often difficult to find out the maximum capacity memory card a camera will use, as today's memory cards are much larger that those available when the manual for the camera was written. Even relatively new cameras may not be able to cope with the memory size of the newest cards.

Finally, SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

What if a new memory card wont initialize?

Hi

The reason you are having this problem is that the maximum size memory card supported by this camera is 2GB. Any card with a larger capacity - like your 4 GB card - can not be initialised by the camera.

For reference see
http://www.mymemory.co.uk/compatible-memory/Digital_Cameras/Fuji/Fuji+Finepix+S7000+Zoom_Memory_Cards

Hope this helps. Please do remember to rate my answer. Many Thanks.

Can't initialize SanDisk Ultra II for S7000

It looks as though the camera cannot support memory as high as 4GB. Capacities above 2.2 GB require that your camera supports "FAT32", and S7000 does not support FAT32.
