The spring loaded clasp is called the front bellow clamp. The following link explains how to replace the door bellow and how the clamp is installed:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

Refer to step 12 when you get ready to reinstall the front bellow clamp. There should be a grrove in the rubber where it fits over the door fram opening. The wire hoop inserts in the groove.

HINT: Help from a second person to hold the clamp in place as you work in around the door opening can make this process much easier.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Replaced bellow in kenmore washer still leaks

Is the plastic housing (Outer Tub) in good shape? If the old boot was ripped, It might be the spider is also broken. Can you move the inner tub by hand and see if it lifts upward? If so you might have to get a new one. I had the spider bracket in the rear of the inner tub break in 4 pieces and too expensive to weld. So I bought a new top loader.

How to change bellows on Kenmore front loading washer

First remove the bottom kick plate at bottom. Then tear off the front of the bellows from around the door. Inside there is a big hose clamp holding the inside if it. Remove completely.
Now,put the inside on first, Tightening the inside clamp. Easy so far, right?
My trick to the outer spring:put a little liquid detergent or soap on out bellow where spring attaches, start at top and work it down and around, use needlenose pliers to help with hard part. Good Luck.

KENMORE H3T WASHER GREY TWISTED FRONT SEAL

I am currently replacing this bellow because of holes and five years of wear and tear. The bellow is attached to the front door assembly via a spring loaded clamp. This clamp is a solid large wire ring with loops on each end where the spring attaches. You do not have to remove the spring, just place a screwdriver between the bellow and the ring or spring to remove. This will allow you to take off the bellow from the lip of the front door assembly to reposition. The spring clamp goes on starting first from opposite of the spring and working in both directions a little at a time. ALL DONE.
