The screen is snowy like we're not on the correct channel to connect to the satellite receiver. Changing TV channels doesn't work. The message on the screen says "weak or no signal", but I know the satellite signal is coming in OK because our other receiver is working ine. What do you suggest we try? We've reset the receiver and tried the other suggestions in the troubleshooting in the manual.

Second level tv has a signal but the main tv on first floor has no signal.

Hello! It sounds like there are a few things that could actually be going on. If you are getting no picture on the TV(you have a black, blue, or snowy screen), you will want to make sure that the TV is on the correct channel and/or input. You will want to be on channel 3 or 4, and possibly on a Video 1 or 2 or HDMI 1 or 2 input. If that doesn't work, then try unplugging the receiver from the power source for about 10 seconds. If you are still not getting a picture, let me know!

If you have a signal loss message on your screen (Signal has been lost, Partial SIgnal loss, COmplete signal loss, or Acquiring signal), you will first want to unplug the receiver from the power source for 10 seconds. You will get the Acquiring singla message as the receiver reboots after you plug it in, but that should only be about 5 minutes at the most. If you get the message after 5 minutes, you will want to make sure that all of the cables going from the back of the receiver to the wall are tight. If that still doesn't do it, please let me know!

jefferswjj,

What are you getting on your TV 1 screen? Are you getting 015, acquiring satellite signal or weak or no signal, blue/black screen or snowy screen? Each of these problems requires certain troubleshooting steps. For the 015 message, a component from the Dish to the receiver may be bad. It could be weather related. For the other problems, the TV may not be on the correct input setting or channel. If you can provide more information, I would be happy to assist you.

Are you getting a snowy/blue/black screen on your TV? To get your picture back, you need to get the TV back to the correct channel or input. If the receiver is in the same room as this TV, the TV should be on channel 3/4 (normally 3) or an input setting depending on the TV. TV 2 (away from receiver) would be on channel 60/73. If you have the TV remote, put the TV on one of those channels. If you get a picture when the TV is placed on the correct channel, press and release the SAT button. This puts the remote back in SAT mode and will now operate the receiver.

If you don't have a picture, unplug the receiver for 10 seconds from the electrical outlet and plug back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and re-acquire Satellite signal. i hope this helps.

Tv has only snowy screen. Used the remote to

What to do if you have an all snowy picture (blue screen or the TV displays unusable signal-no signal or no sync)
1 – If you are using a digital cable box or satellite receiver (make sure it’s on) and be sure your TV is set for either CH3 or CH4 (which ever you usually view it on). If you usually view it through video inputs (video1 or 2 etc.) make sure the appropriate input is selected.
If you still don’t get a signal see if you get picture using the DVD or VCR (if available) if you do than plug the satellite or Dig. Box temporarily into the place of the DVD (unplug DVD) you may have to use some A/V cables (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) to hook to the tv from the sat./dig. box. If you get a signal then the sat./dig box is ok. If not the Sat./dig box is not sending a signal and is either defective or needs to be rebooted (unplug wait 5 min try again).
2 – If you are using standard cable or antenna (source) if possible check that the source is good by connecting to another TV. Otherwise try running the source into a VCR and then out to the TV using video inputs (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) and then selecting the appropriate input. Try seeing if the VCR plays using standard CH3 (or CH4)
If the VCR plays on video input but not when connected to CH3 (CH4) then the tuner of the TV may be defective – see if you can use the VCR to change channel using the VCR remote.
Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

How do I escape from an input screen back to watching satellite tv? Screen reads first please connect all signals and antennas to jacks and terminals on the back of the tv then press the channel up key...

Looks like your set is not receiving the signal from the sat. receiver. Make sure that the audio/video cable is in good shape and connected correctly, then select the correct input on your tv. If that doesn`t work try to connect a dvd or vcr on the same cable, if that is still no go then you may have a bad audio/video cable or there is a problem with your tv set. If it does work(dvd/vcr) then you`ll have to check your satellite receiver. Hope this help. Good luck

Have Direct TV using a Sony Digital Satellite receiver model #SAT B2-2 /Sony Satellite dish purchased in 7/97. I get local channels thru Direct TV. Recently, local channels will show on the Direct TV guide...

Your dish is out of alignment. The local channel satellite doesn't have as strong of a signal, so a slight misalignment will cause problems.

It could also be an F-connector needs to be replaced at the dish or multiswitch (if you have one). Sometimes moisture builds up inside the connector and corrodes the copper stinger inside.

If you go into your satellite signal strength menu and find the local channel satellite, you're sure to see either a weak signal or an intermittent one.

One more thing, if a tree has grown in the line of sight between the dish and the satellite, this will cause signal problems too. In this case, you either have to trim the tree or move the dish.

Hope this helps!

P.S.
The customer service reps at DirecTV usually idiots reading from a script with no real field experience.

Programming Channels

Your TV is likely set for "AIR" tuning rather than "CABLE" mode. In this case channels above 13 don't tune correctly. The tuning mode is adjusted through the setup menu (it's been too long since I've seen one of these to remember exactly how the menu looks). Once you set the tuning mode for cable, all the available channels should come in properly.

But you've said you have satellite, so you should have a satellite receiver connected to your TV, and you'd be changing channels there rather than on the TV. Your TV would be staying on channel 3 or 4 (if using the satellite antenna output connection), or on the A/V input you have the satellite connected to (if using the direct A/V outputs). Am I missing something about your system?

You have what is called a diplexer in the back of the the receiver in the front room.It looks like a splitter. If it is put back on in the wrong way you will have a fuzzy screen.look at the diplexer, you will see in/out which would be the input on a regular splitter, then you will have one side that would be one of the 2 outputs that will say SAT,the other side is UHF/VHF.The chances are that when you plugged them back in you had them swapped.Try changing the 2 cables around. If that doesnt work try changing the assigned channel to 68.You can also try doing a auto channel search on the tv in the room without the receiver.this will find the channel that the front room receiver is broadcasting the signal on.Chances are though that your diplexer wires are configured incorrectly.remember, the in/out should plug into the back of the receiver (satellite in)and the UHF/VHF should be going to the other room with the problem and the SAT side of the diplexer should be wired to the satellite dish.GOOD LUCK! rate me with the outcome please.
