Is it almost a solid line? This may be an application problem. Are you printing text?
I have seen this in two flavors:
1) If there are switch settings for this printer you want to make sure that the printer is set for CR/LF ( Carrier Return/Line Feed). This tells the printer to Return the printhead to the start of the line and the LF command tells the printer to step up the page.
2) If you are connected serially, the parity bit may be set incorrectly. Depending on the parity, the bit could printer if set for even parity but the sending PC is set to EVEN parity can cause a LF command to get ignored and the symptom is the lines print on top of the first line.
