There are two power wires for the receiver. One will light the clock and eject the CD when the eject button is pressed, but will only stay on a few seconds and this is connected to a battery source. The other power wire actually turns on the radio and is connected to a source controlled by the igition switch Check the wiring diagram to see if you have both wires connected correctly.

JVC KD-R200 won't power up for more than 5 seconds

Check your wires they might be touching steel around your car mostly look at your yellow and red wires those are the 1' that give it power and light to your radio also check your radio fuse in the back.

JVC KD-G245 - powers up, then turns itself off after 3 seconds

Try connecting battery and accessory wires as one instead of two seperate wires (yellow and red) had same problem and worked for me(it will not be neccesary to turn the key for the radio to work once this is done)

Power will not stay on

Sounds like you're not getting voltage on the accessory power lead. This is the red wire at the back of the deck, and it supplies power whenever the key is switched on. It's possible that your vehicle's radio fuse is blown.
