Hi guys.
Just got this new and plugged into computer for charging. Hope I can explain myself properly.
Two things:
message on screen says "OK to disconnect" - not fully charged - so don't understand this message, as just before that it said "do not disconnect" on the screen.
when I first plugged it in, message on task bar said new hardware found but it is not showing that on icon which when you click on it shows all hardware connected - ie new hardware doesn't seem to exist. Worried that just pulling out connection when I think it is fully charged, will damage something eg when I plug in flash drive - message shows new hardware present = e drive, then when I want to remove it, I click on icon on task bar and message says "safe to remove".
Why is this apparent with my new mp3 player?
Thanks Trish
This player shows the "Do not disconnect" message when it is doing something critical such as transferring tracks or updating firmware, which could corrupt the player if disconnected part way through.
The player shows the "OK to disconnect" when it is idle. As the message says, it's ok to disconnect, as the player will not corrupt if disconnected when it is idle.
These messages mean that the player does not need the "Safe to remove" procedure.
It is ok to disconnect part way through charging. Also the player will condition the battery once it is fully charged, so it's ok to leave it charging.
Occassionally batteries can "memorise" when constantly disconnect and reconnected without fully charging and discharging. To help prevent this, fully discharge the player (leave on until dead) and fully charge and condition (leave charging for about 12 hours) every couple of weeks or so.
