My dell inspiron 1318 right hinge is broke from where do i get when i contact dell support they told me that i deed to change the whole screen only for hinge

I have same problem with 1318 and just relized today that there were to small little screws missing on right side hinge. screen was very loose and would easily fall backwards . i managed to find sum in a junk draw and put them in as good as i could and its feels like new again. i plan on getting correct screws online or from hardware store but its good for now

Dell is clearly the only contact that would carry a replacement for the hinge. I have checked all over and can only find the Center Console Cover

Loose hinges on dell insperon 1318
Hi There,
Loose hinges ultimately need replacing, as tightening them is impossible. To get to the hinges in order to replace them, You'll need to remove the screen. This is a fairly daunting task for anyone without previous laptop repair experience, and can get frustrating pretty quickly. Your local repair shop should be able to do this for under $50.

Do you mean the LCD screen with the lid?
If so you undo the hinges and disconnect the video and power leads to the inverter.
This WEB site shows how to remove the screen/hinges.

We have a disk stuch in a dell inspiron 1318, there is no OS on it right now. how can we get disk out? there is no place to stick the paper clip
Remove the optical drive, and then open the drive. Remove the disk.

With most laptops this is a simple job.
Turn the laptop over on it's top, remove one Philips head screw, pull the optical drive out.
Remove 2 to 4 screws from a cover on the optical drive, and ease the tray open.

With the Inspiron 1318 Notebook PC it is more difficult.

A) Remove the Display Assembly.
(Removal covers removing the Display Assembly as a whole unit, off of the laptop)

B) Remove the Keyboard.

C) Remove the Palm Rest. (Top cover under the Keyboard. Your palms rest on it when you use the touchpad)

D) Remove the Optical Drive

it can be fixed, most things made by man can be fixed.
that is if not too old and no parts sold on earth. happens.
any old PC of any kind, the maker has no parts.
(mechanical) after maybe 3 short years, (sux yes)

ever see them?> find a new base with no hinge mounts wrecked
is the only way,

no its broken
lots of laptop fail like this, its only cheap plastic base.
if its forced to hard or lid closed with objects in the way
the cheap plastic mounts snap,
it needs new bottom case.

Right hand hinge is broke dell inspiron 1318
The only people who have the hinge is Dell themselves. I've checked all over. The only parts available are the Center Console Cover & The Back Cover. If the hinge itself is broken, then you will have to send it to DELL. They'll tell you that the whole screen needs to be fixed- just to hike up the price of repair. If you want, you can buy the back cover, which for the most part, will cover the exposed wires on the hinge, but the front of the hinge will still be exposed. What I would love to find is a metal hinge for the DELL Inspiron 1318, like that found in the Dell Studio XPS version. The plastic hinges only guarantee that we will remain loyal customers. Sorry if this didn't help much.

Dell inspiron 1318 lcd screen completely dim
The backlight in your LCD has gone out. You will need to replace the entire LCD. You can look on ebay or here, you will be paying around $300 for it.
