normally on a dell u have to have the power charger plugged in and hold the fn key bottom left and use the arrow keys to make it brighter. however it could be your screen or inverter that maybe faulty. the link below charges 60 pounds for inverter fix which contols the brightness and 100 pounds if it is the screen.

now for the bios password the only way you will be able to remove this is the strip the system down and remove the cmos battery for few mins with no power and put back this should reset it again the company can help you with this if needed. laptop repair london computer repair service no fix no fee

Hi Robert Harper,
It looks like an issue with Video (BIOS, Memory Shadowing)
Could you provide me with the Service Tag of the system?
You can try connecting external Monitor if available to check if that works? (After connecting external monitor you need to press fn+f8 to toggle the display)

Usually computers that have built in webcams come with a software suite for photos, unless Windows has been wiped an re-installed. I would check the Dell website with the service tag in order to see a list of programs/drivers that were installed when the computer was brand new. Let the site search your service tag for you. You should be able to download the programs needed right there.

ok, theres a small issue with the raid controller. You have to install a 3rd party raid driver (its on the dell cd) to continue, OR, you can set that BIOS's hard drive controls to ATA or LEGACY (legacy would likely work best, but youd have no 'raid' functions, but who sets up raid drives on a notebook?). Your last option is use the dell discs to restore, and inssert the windws disc when prompted

You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods.
1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor.
2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key a few times.
Here is a list of key combinations for some of the laptops :-
IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7
HP and Compaq = Fn + F4
Toshiba = Fn + F5
ASUS and Dell = Fn + F8

there is a button on your laptop that will turn on your wireless. An led will come on and you will see a confirmation on the bottom right once it sees a wireless signal. the next part is to figure out if you have the security enable on your wireless router and if you do know what the SSID and the KEY for it.

Do you mean the LCD screen with the lid?
If so you undo the hinges and disconnect the video and power leads to the inverter.
This WEB site shows how to remove the screen/hinges.

Optical drive problems

NOTE: High-speed optical drive vibration is normal and may cause noise, which

does not indicate a defect in the drive or the media.

NOTE: Because of different regions worldwide and different disc formats, not all

DVD titles work in all DVD drives.

Problems writing to a CD-RW or DVD+/-RW

CLOSE OTHER PROGRAMS - CD-RW and DVD+/-RW drives must receive a

steady stream of data when writing. If the stream is interrupted, an error
occurs. Try closing all programs before you write to the drive.
