Without more details I can't be certain, but I suspect it's changing as you zoom in and out. Many zoom lenses change their aperture range as you change the focal length. This makes the lenses smaller, lighter, and less expensive.

How do I change the aperture when my camera is in manual mode

You have to hold down the exposure compensation button at the same time as turning the control dial.
The values appear on the control panel screen.

I found this on page 33 of the manual...
Set the mode dial to M and turn the control dial to set the value.
• To set the shutter speed: Turn the control dial.
To set the aperture value:Turn the control dial while holding down the
[+-](exposure compensation) button.

The exposure level indicator appears on the control panel screen, showing the difference (ranging from -3 EV to +3 EV) between the exposure value calculated by the currently selected aperture
and shutter speed compared to the exposure value considered optimum by the camera.

Sigma 15-30 aperture

The lens has an aperture range from f/3.5 to f/22 at the 15mm end of the zoom range and an aperture range from f/4.5 to f/32 at the 30mm end of the zoom range.

If you have some other question about the aperture, please ask it.

How do i change the aperture settings on my FUJIFILM FinePix XP30?

One problem with many point&shoot cameras is that they expect you to point and shoot, without fiddling with things like aperture and shutter speed. This camera doesn't give you any direct control over the aperture, which is restricted to a range of less than one full f/stop in any case. About the best you can do is to select the Portrait or Sport mode when you want a wide aperture and the Landscape mode when you want a small aperture.

I have a fujifilm finepix s1600.i just wanted to know if i can blur the background for certain images.

To blur the background, you need a shallow depth of field, which requires a small aperture.

Select Aperture priority by moving the mode select dial to A
Press the +/- button, the shutter speed and aperture are displayed
press the selector up/down to select the aperture
press the +/- button to exit shooting mode

IF the selected aperture is outside the shooting range of the camera, shutter speed will show ---

I just bought a Tokina 100mm f/2.8 AT-X M100 AF Pro D Macro Auto Focus Lens from B & H and put it on my Nikon D300. When I press the button a blinking FEE appears. What seems to be the problem?...

The FEE error indicates that the camera cannot control the full range of the lens aperture. If your lens has a mechanical aperture ring, rotate the aperture to its smallest opening, or highest f-number - normally marked in orange. Select this aperture and lock it using the aperture locking switch to prevent this message from appearing again.

On my d90, under M (manual mode or aperture priority), the aperture on the readout goes beyond the actual aperture range; i.e. f3.5 - 5.6; readings will show aperture range of 5 - 29 when I scroll with the...

There is NOT a problem. The f3.5-5.6 indicates the maximum aperture in the zoom range. At 18mm the maximum aperture is f3.5, at 105mm it's f5.6. The minimum aperture ranges from f22 to f38.

So, at 18mm, the aperture can range from f3.5 to f22. At 105mm, the aperture can range from f5.6 to f38. At intermediate focal lengths the aperture range is somewhere between the two extremes.

Prpane back to ng. Changed top burner apertures. Is there anything else I should do for the gas supply

The range burner orfices need to be changed to the natural gas ones. I am assuming when you say "apertures" you are talking about the burner orfices. If so then you have already changed the range burner orfices. There is also a orfice that usually needs to be replaced for the oven burner and top broiler burner (if you have a top broiler). And then there is usally a pressure adjustment required on the appliance gas regulator. This is usually adjusted by simply removing the regulator cap and turning over the spring tension plug inside and then re-installing the plug and cap.

What mode do i use to make a person clear and the background blurry?

It's not the mode, it's the aperture. What you want is called a "narrow depth of field". Depth of field is controlled by three factors: focusing distance, lens focal length, and lens aperture. For portrait work you probably want a focal length in the 50-100mm range and an aperture as large (smaller f/number) as you can get.

How you get the large aperture is up to you. Probably the easiest is to select Aperture-priority mode and crank it as far as it goes.

I encourage you to experiment with it. If you can't get another person to help you, just put an object where you'd prefer to have a head. Use different apertures, and different focal lengths (moving closer or farther to compensate). It's not as if you're paying money for film and processing, after all.

How do you change the shutter speed on the finepix s5500?

That depends on the selected shooting mode.

In Program AE, press the exposure compensation button and then up/down on the 4-way button to change the shutter speed/aperture combination.

In Aperture Priority AE you can control the shutter speed indirectly. Press the exposure compensation button and then up/down on the 4-way button to change the aperture, and the camera will adjust the shutter speed to suit.

In Shutter Priority AE press the exposure compensation button and then up/down on the 4-way button to change the shutter speed. The camera will adjust the aperture to suit.

In Manual press the exposure compensation button and then up/down on the 4-way button to change the shutter speed. You'll have to press left/right on the 4-way button to select the appropriate aperture.
