I'm a bit hesitant to do that....since everything I read about the firmware for this model seems to just screw it up even more...people have used it and there computer doesn't even recognize the drive after that.

    any other ideas?

  • puterpirate Jan 21, 2008

........um......can you write that again? I really didn't understand what you wrote... ......I think I got the first 5 words....then the that last 5...and the part inbetween is rather confusing!!

  • puterpirate Jan 21, 2008

    I'm on this site... http://www.samsung-odd.com/eng/LiveUpdat...

and it's asking me which f/w version it is... U100 or U101 ... where is this information? I can't find it in the drive properties... and if I click on their "check f/w version" button, it just brings up an error page. Is there another way to determine this?

My cd player taked forever to start playing my burned cd

2001, jeep, "new technology on old IRON?"
burned, burned what? did you RIP a CDDA disc to CDR
or burn a bunch of MP3? , my guess you RIPPED it.?

you expect burned CD to work? CDR or CDRW?
if you read the product datasheet for the actual player it will
list all formats that work (few) back then. RBB was zero.
its not weird, it's history,
there are many formats, for CD.
car CD began with CDDA, discs (like sold on the shelf in a store)
those are not file formatted, its track formatted like an an old LP album. (wiki CDDA)
then came file formats. (vast types. MP3 tops.)
there are 3 levels here.
CDR format.
then file types
last music encoding formats(complex)_ask
i can tell you that not all formats are supported on old cars. few to none.
some do SEEM? to work, but are flaky
and after 13years, not at all or more falky, (weak laser, optics dirty)

why not up grade and use USB sticks. ?????
CDs are pretty dead now.

which player, there are many? in dash.?
http://www.wjjeeps.com/radios.htm#AMFMCD

note the lack of CDR play back ( and all others) until 2002.
and even the 2002 is limited.
all car head ends are limited.
for max files.
max folder.s
max files in folder.

just because a CDR pays in a head end that does not support it
means ZERO, as some heads can see some data and attempt to play it blindly, it's just a very dumb headend. (dumb to a fault)

there are endless posts of users trying 100s of ways to fool it
some can,/ most can't (but is not supported so......)

if really curious. post head end ID , like RBB?
we can get the full spec. on that head.

and this,?
http://www.kigmaradioshop.com/servlet/the-46/RBN-RBB-P04858584AE-P04858584AH/Detail

my new jeep supports all these , yours dont
Supported formats are: CDDA, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3,WMA, DVD Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and CDDA+MP3
(this support is progressive from 2002 to present day)

does that help>/?
if not post head end pn. or series class.

The pc won't burn cd's seems like it doesn't recognize cds or dvds

Does the cd/dvd drive read cds? This is a good test to ensure that the drive is functional.

Sometimes, generic cd/dvd burners do not recognize certain types of blank discs. Try another type of
brand blank discs, it should work.

No valid DVD displays on my Toshiba SD-P1850

Most portable dvd players will not read burned dvd/cds. Please be sure to use originals in your dvd player. If you have a user's manual it should tell you if your player reads CDR's or DVD/RWs

Samsung v 25 dvd room not working

Hi Alfonso, you can put any dvd-rw into your laptop, all you have to is change out the screw holder on the back of the drive and also change out the face plate. This will allow you to make sure that the drive fits properly and that you can screw the drive into place. Also make sure the shape of the drive matches up as well.

Burning problems

Windows can only write to CDR disks in its internal drivers, and to burn DVD's requires a 3rd party program such as NERO or NTI.

Cannot play dvds

well my knowledge on dvd is not as good as I want it to bes. But, check the small print in your manual of the unit and see if it supports the formats of the dvds you are using. I know I used to get certain music cdr and burn cds on them and the cd player I had would not take certain cds. I had to see in the manual to see what the problem was and it had to be a good quality of cdrs and certain formats before it would play them. Wish I had a better answer for ya but that is the best I can do for ya. oh yeah check with some of the techs at best buy or circuit city. They have technicians in there that can probably tell ya. Make sure you have what type and model number of the unit you have and what type of dvds you have been using.
