    Hi Guru,
thanks for the speedy reply. The dvds I cannot get it o play are regular store bought movies and I've tried about half a dozen without any success. I presume to play the dvd the laser carrier has to go to the edge of the disk but it just clicks away without any success.

Well my knowledge on dvd is not as good as I want it to bes. But, check the small print in your manual of the unit and see if it supports the formats of the dvds you are using. I know I used to get certain music cdr and burn cds on them and the cd player I had would not take certain cds. I had to see in the manual to see what the problem was and it had to be a good quality of cdrs and certain formats before it would play them. Wish I had a better answer for ya but that is the best I can do for ya. oh yeah check with some of the techs at best buy or circuit city. They have technicians in there that can probably tell ya. Make sure you have what type and model number of the unit you have and what type of dvds you have been using.

I have a portable dvd player model number mdp1030 the unit keeps saying no disk I have tried numerous disks same results.

then i think the lens is not able to read the disk.

and so i would suggest you to buy a disk cleaner CD and run it in your DVD player and then use your regular disks.

if this is not working then it is some internal fault in your DVD players lens.

Make sure the disc is spinning. This might sound crazy but try turning the whole player upside down and see if it plays.

Caanot play CD-R/DVD-R burnt from PC

First check that in your user manual that the dvd player is JPEG compatible. When you say you are having the problem on other DVD's do you mean when you use DVD+R and DVD-R disks on your own player or that yu have tried to play the same DVD disk on other brand DVD players without success? You dont mention which software you are using to save your JPEG's to Disk or whether you can in fact view them on your PC. After making sure that your Windows media player displays your pictures ok, Try using the NERO dvd burning Rom programme to load your JPEG's. I am assuming that you are not trying to record a DVD in a CD burning drive? hope this helps - hattonhall
