I have a Curtis DVD1100UK Blu ray player that has played 5 Blu ray discs I've tried but won't play "TAKEN" or "YEAR ONE". I took the discs back to Blockbuster and they said that the player needs to connect (ethernet) to the internet to update but no procedure in manual to follow. The discs that have played fine were: Star Trek 2009. The Hulk. Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian. Outlander. Knowing. Tried these 5 before and after trying to play Taken & Year One and the 5 played no problems at all. No neighbours or friends near with a blu ray player to try. The bloke in Blockbuster said that nobody else had problems with the discs so it MUST be my player and he let me have the 2 films on normal dvd at no extra charge. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My ps3 plays games but will not play blu ray movie

You can try clear your movie data from the discs you\'ve played (according to Fox that\'s sometimes the culprit when a disc won\'t even load): restart your PS3 and go to the video menu and scroll up to the BluRay Data section. Go into it and check that it has saved some info for your movies. Now deleted all the data in this folder except the shared data crap, and hopefully your movies start perfectly!!

If that fails try the following:

In the XMB(menus) go to Settings ---> BD/DVD Settings ---> BD 1080p 24 Hz Output (HDMI). Turn that off. This has also been known to work.

Life of Pi blu ray won't start up. Plays 20th Fox Logo o.k. but won't start up

I have the same problem, tried it on 2 different (functioning) blu-ray players at home with the same result. Both are up to date with latest firmware but will not play this disc. Finally had to just watch the standard-def DVD version until I can solve this.

My blu ray player won't play the hunger games

Need more info. Does the player accept the disc? If so, do you hear the disc spinning inside? If not, what does the player do? Does it kick the disc back out? Will this player accept and play other discs?

Hi have just bought a panasonic blu ray player model dmp-bd77 here in australia we have put in a b/ray dvd from the usa that plays perfectly but when we have put in another american dvd(not blu ray a...

Every blu ray or dvd player sold in the world comes as standard unlocked to play any disc from any region. On the fifth play of a disc the DVD or Bluray will become locked to that region. So if you play 5 USA dvd's on the player after the fifth disc has been played only US dvd's will be recognised by the player, Same applies to BLUrays. So if i were you i would be careful about what discs you are putting in the player. Otherwise you will be left with a bluray player that cannot be used in Australia. After that happens the only way to play other region discs would be to get the player unlocked. Another point to add , a blueray player has two lasers one to play bluray and another to play DVD's. Lasers can fail so you could be able to play DVD's but not Bluray or vice versa depending on which laser has failed.

Blu-ray player won't play Blu-ray, only DVDs

There have been issues with firmware, if that is the case they should offer a method to reverse the process instead of telling you to press a few buttons which will do nothing. I would pursue Panasonic to get them to offer you a solution to remedy the matter.
